myfoxphilly.comDE Man Arrested For Alleged Sex AssaultApr 17, 2010Delaware State Police have arrested a 27 year-old counselor for sexual assault. State Police received information that the man allegedly assaulted a 16 year-old patient at a treatment facility in Smyrna.
Troopers arrested Christopher Denigris on Thursday.
The 16 year-old victim is a resident of Brenford Place residential treatment facility for juveniles with mental health disorders. The victim reported that on two separate occasions last weekend Denigris allegedly sexually assaulted her. Officials say Denigris was working at the facility at the time of the assaults, as a youth rehabilitative counselor who was in charge of supervising the victim and the other seven juveniles who reside at that facility.
Troopers also believe that Denigris gave the victim his personal email information on a prior occasion and believe Denigris and the victim communicated via emails on prior occasions.
State police executed a search warrant at Denigris' residence and seized his computer for forensic examination.
Denigris has been charged with two counts of rape and was released on $10,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing in the Court of Common Pleas for Kent County.
The investigation is on going and troopers plan on interviewing past patients for any prior assaults.
