Dawnne Takeuchi 18 years old Died: 6/25/95 Thrown from semi-truck driven by program staff (Vision Quest); driver convicted of careless driving
Robert Rollins 12 years old Died 4/21/97 Asphyxiation while restrained after a dispute about his teddy bear
Robert was restrained for 10 minutes, face down on the floor, after a dispute escalated over his missing teddy bear. Investigators found
a significant delay in emergency response. The (Devereaux, Rutland, Mass.) staffer who restrained the boy left him lying, unresponsive, on the floor.
No criminal charges were filed.

tl;dr she refers kids to Scheff who refers them to programs under the premise that they're "better" than the ones on CAICA's site. She's very selective about which programs she chooses to put up on her watch-list.

Are you telling me that the person who maintains a site that bears an attempt at a comprehensive list of the names of children who’ve died in programs/institutions and the senseless circumstances surrounding their deaths, also makes referrals to programs?

So, she defended a program even after it was shown to be abusive and shut down…
I wonder if her compendium of the most extreme outcome of abusive programs/institutions is somehow a tacit way to imply that
her referrals are death proofed. What has she professed her criteria for endorsements to be?

Through Sue Scheff, yes. And not in ignorance either. Whitmore parents contacted here and told her about the kinds of programs sue referred to but she didn't care. It's not like the information wasn't out there either.

Quite simply, the internet isn't regulated and the referral business isn't regulated.
We recommend that parents NOT use the internet to find a program for their child.
You just have no way of knowing what kind of person you are entrusting your child to.
