I was in the Cleveland location in Sept-October 78 when it closed up and moved to SR84;

Look into Ridge Tool (Made Rigid pipe wrenches) or Emerson Electric (Owns Ridge Tool) for a lead on the property;

Son of a senior executive was on the program (lived in the "apartments" with him);

PM me for more

jg - are you saying the seed had a program in 78 in ohio, and shut down, and then moved those ohio kids to sr84 in ft. lauderdale?

if you were there as you say - i i think it is true - i am NOT belittling you. what i am saying is -- how did they get parents to agree to let their kids be moved 1000 miles away?

what were the guidelines?

were they all court ordered?

how the #%^$% could kids be moved out of one state to another?

geezus crist! what a mess.

they asked, some did not move - they were graduated;
Some parents moved to ft. lauderdale and continued to have newcomers etc. for a while.

It was not on the scale of SR 84, miami, etc. at there heyday;

there were only about maybe 40 people, some were over 18.
Come to think of it, only a few minors made the trip without parents or older (over 18) siblings moving down with them.

It was a strange time;

are you telling me -- seriously, that minors were allowed to cross state lines - into that hell hole?

what were the conditions imposed upon asshole barker?

jesus!

these assholes here play games about mere bullshit words, but when this real life horror show is revealed they don't have fuck all to say about it.

kids being dragged from ohio, to ft. lauderdale, practically the everglades swamp, to be incarcerated.

were they court ordered?

no court has any jurisdiction to remove a kid to another state.

the level of crimes, and incompetence astounds me.

but, if you notice -- this board is all about attacking, and not addressing.

bored of the a-holes here.

go jg.

yell it like it is!

Legacy

The methods used in The Seed are still forced upon teenagers today. Mel Sembler - a parent of a detainee in the program - started Straight Incorporated. When Straight Incorportated closed down in 1989 the methods were used in modified versions by Kids Helping Kids and Pathway Family Center - both programs with management once employed by Straight. In Canada a similar program - Alberta Adolescent Recovery Center - built on the use of the same methods.

So the methods once compared by United States Senate to the North Korean brainwashing of American POW's are still used on teenagers today.

From a report to the Senate [3]:

    "In some instances they were locked in rooms by themselves and denied food for days. They also reported that they were made to sit in chairs without speaking while listening to others berate them for hours...I recently interviewed a child that would be diagnosed as an emotionally unstable personality with paranoid overtones. The use of the above noted practices with his kind of child could easily result in a precipitation of major mental disturbance. Fortunately this child was able to run from the Seed before very much damage had been done to her psychologically. She did manifest some confusion and paranoid ideation which she felt was a result of the manner in which she was treated by the Seed personnel. I have also interviewed children who made suicide attempts following their running from the Seed. Overwhelming feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness and despair were in evidence."

    [Jeffrey J. Elenewski, Ph.D., clinical psychologist - This letter was included in the 1974 Senate report on the Seed.]

[edit]               Imagine being Fart Barker and this being posted in Wiki page about his self, some how I hope his life sucked worse then what was felt in that place, just can not imagine  waking up to this being what you are all about daily. OH, and nothing will ever change who a person is......sigh..... I am so happy to be me. :peace:   :flip:  :rose:
