Each student is also eligible for a weekly telephone call with parents. These phone calls are purposefully less supervised and provide an opportunity for students and families to interact genuinely.

Since Josh’s enrollment at CALO, I have seen the canine program being an important and effective part of Josh’s therapy. I think that Josh has the ability to attach to and care for a dog. I know that Josh looks forward to adopting his own dog and will love and care for it. We will also welcome the dog into the family here at the house when Josh would come home.

According to my source Josh had his dog taken away after threatening to kill it, and from what I gather this isn't the first time he has had a dog removed from his care over the same sort of incident.

The CALO Coach's Handbook clearly states that the dogs are to be kenneled no longer than 2 hrs at a time during the day, no longer than 9 hrs at a time at night.

I think they use the dogs as a touchy-feely gimmick to rein the parents in. Cheaper to purchase and house than horses.

If CALO really wants to cut costs, they should look into starting a tarantula program. I've heard that kids' ability to bond with parents vastly increases -- after investing some quality time with spiders. Probably a lot easier to bury than the mammals, should the relationship turn sour...

Haha please u dnt even knw what your tlking about..the dog therapy there is amazeing I was one of the original 8 I was there for two years and I knw the good an the bad there..but lemme tell you calo is one of the best programs out there..u try an sue calo ull have a fight..I've been in 7 programs juvy and alota other things and calos been the best...my word against yours will win..sry but id hop off if I was u..your waisting ur time
