PFC Abandoning Ohio????
« on: December 05, 2008, 08:21:28 PM »
Preliminary report from ODADAS is that PFC intends to surrender its Ohio license sooner than later, thus officially ending treatment AND assessments at the old STRAIGHT, Inc. Cinci/Milford location. However, PFC will still be marketing their program and opening at a new location in Ohio sometime in the future.

Since this is a voluntary corporate decision type thing based solely on "intentions", I want to believe that PFC will actually send that damn certification back, but until they have actually done so, Well, sorry, but they're still on life support. One thing is for sure, ODADAS will not be confiscating it.

If they do, they will be protested and run out of town again.

This is just like in the Old West how someone would come into town selling a quack product and the townspeople would chase them away. (Images of the old Hubba Bubba commercials come to mind.)

I don't know about Dana, But Monica is listed as working "see below", updated 12/03/2008. I am assuming it is our own lovely and talented Monica from PFC Milford. If Monica is gone from PFC, Dana is surely gone too. Draw your own conclusions as to what this info means. I know Bandit73 will be all over this one.

Two very good questions.

Why the other address in NWIndiana, and was Lisa the program director at PFC MI? I wonder if this is somehow tied to Aspen Ed. group. That would explain the inconsistency of the e-mail that DP got. That might be a connection.

Dana wouldn't move for PFC. She's rooted in Southwestern Ohio. Besides, PFC aint got the money to pay her anyway, I bet.

There's a Transitions Inc. building on my own city block! It's been in that building for maybe 10 years, and I have yet to figure out what it is.

I doubt if it's anything like KHK, but it's obviously some type of drug treatment.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Harangue on my very block!

I think ye are correct!

Call that place up and ask what they do there. Ask if they refer to Pathway Family Centers.
Just a suggestion.
See what they say.

Lots of info sites list pfc at 1308 Essex Dr, and someone from that address was arrested for Dui back in Nov. Drunken driving | Joshua Brown, 23, 1308 Essex Drive, Porter;

BUT

The pfc website lists its nwi address as 804 Canonie dr in Porter

The older address from Chesterton was 325 Sand Creek

Where the hell is pfc?

I found this little tidbit on the web:

October 15, 2008

What to do with the "R" Word?

Unless you've been in a cave or bunker somewhere without the modern conveniences of television, radio or newspapers, we're hearing pundits and economists saying the dreaded "R" word. Could it be a recession is upon us? Even as I write this blog the weather is ugly, gray and it's raining. It seems to fit the economic climate and mood of Main Street (as both the candidates for president like to say).

The response to our current economic climate is all too evident everywhere I'm turning lately. People are hunkering down and scaling back. It was very clear last night as I attended a fund raising event for a cause called, Pathway Family Center (they exist to help youth and families overcome teen substance abuse and behavioral issues). It was during the live auction that an autographed jersey from the same famous athlete sold for less than half of what it sold at last years fund raiser. It seemed that this restrained mentality happened over and over during the auction. For me, this was a microcosm of people's attitude and response.

This got me to wonder, is a "hunkering down" philosophy good for a business? It seems that many companies are responding in a like manner by becoming more conservative.

If you ask, Gary Lilien, professor of management science at Penn State, what a company should do during a recession, his answer would be "one of the things we say in our research is that when times get hard, that's a very good time to attack if you're strong." Lilien co-authored a 2005 study about proactive marketing during a recession. It was published in the International Journal for Research in Marketing.

The findings of Lilien's research highlighted three key qualities that are necessary to market proactively during a recession: the will, the skill, and the till. The will is the ability to resist the instinct to conserve; the skill is having a well-established and inventive marketing department (or let's say a partner like Fresh Fuel :-)); the till is to have company coffers ample enough to weather the tough times and increase the company's marketing at the same time. He emphasizes that not all companies will or should step up marketing during a recession; those that don't have the above three qualities are likely to actually lose more than they gain.

The research once again supports that the strategically-creative (skill) who take the opportunity (will) to be more aggressive (till) gain marketshare from competitors when the economy turns. I don't know about you, but I like this thought, now what's yours.

I took my son to the address on Canonie Drive, it is the address for PFC.  Julie Brown does the assessment's there. She is a parent of a graduate of PFC. I suppose Joshua Brown is her son?

Ol Julie, yes, she is the expert assessor there at PFC. Being a parent of a graduate of a program that uses the straight inc treatment model automatically places these parents in the positions of experts in the field of addiction. Is your child still there at that building? If so, where does he/she spend the night?
