I was thinking , there seems to be a passion to have me banned based on one or more of the posts I have read.  Maybe there is a way to leverage that to raise money for fornits.  I really did intend to leave fornits and keep my word, but I just couldn’t resist coming back to respond to posts and I was surprised that you stuck to your moral beliefs and allowed me to still login under my user name, thank you.  If roles were reversed I am not sure I would be able to control my impulse to figure out a way to keep you off my forum, if I was in charge, and I consider myself open minded.  I love what you have created here and feel I don’t interfere overall with the traffic either way.  You have a unique forum and I am surprised it does not have more traffic than it does.  Somehow you need to get the word out to people that you are here, not just survivors but anyone who wants to speak out without moderators… fornits is a hidden gem and given the right exposure I think it would become an oasis for those who want to speak their minds unharnessed.. sorry if I am sounding like a sycophant here this is not my intent.

Some ideas, You could brain storm on ways to raise money by selling my username or locking it, you could throw me under the bus if you like by taking it away, sell monthly rights to control the avatar or lock me out and have different people post under the user name, have the winner design a who free forum etc.  I would go along for the satisfaction that fornits will benefit and have the resources to continue on. I may be able to match all or part of what you raise off the endeavor also.  Give it some thought; I don’t necessarily need a reply.

You have my permission to delete/erase our correspondences so that they don’t make it onto the forum.

...

Everybody take note as to what he is consenting to... offering to do, freely, of his own will.  We didn't even have to ask!  Point is: he wouldn't tehnically be banned, since he is consenting to it... Therefore, it isn't violating anybody's ethical principles.  So.  Let's start the bidding at 50 dollars for his account.  TheWho will then match all or part of that amount, as per his offer (though he will probably be a cheap bastard and claim something like 5% as "part").

When the auction is over, the winner can donate here.  The proceeds will go directly to Dreamhost to pay for our hosting, allowing an upgrade in service that should get rid of some of the 404 and 500 errors we've been having recently.

How long is the auction for? Is there a buy-it-now price? I don't ever want to read another of his posts again!  :rasta:

Well.  TheWho seems to have no problem complying with your wishes.  What he wrote was a selfless attempt at entra...  er... generosity which we are more than happy to oblige.

So if you win you get control over his account?

What prevents him from making another account?

Will he be banned if he posts as guest or makes a new user name?

I suppose so.

Nothing, but maybe he'll agree not to.

Nope...  Unless he agrees to that.  Or if you interpret "lock me out" (see op) as just that... but I think consent for that would have to be more explicit.  Probably best to ask him.

I think this last round of ass clownery with the Who, just as the earlier rounds with Nazi et al, has proven once again that you can't effectively ban a specific individual and still allow free and open discussion by others. So no, there will be no more attempts to ban anyone.

The winner just gets to control the The Who account and enjoy the warmth and gratification of helping to support the Fornits.

Today I had lunch with some of the regulars from the "The legion of doom"  at Gotham City Grill . (http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legion_of_Doom_(comics))

I mentioned 'the who' auction to Lex Luthor and the penguin. They were surprised to hear that 'the who' is considering renegging on their original deal this past February without contacting them first.

Nonirregardless..

The penguin bids a year supply of arctic frosted penguin guano

and

Lex's offers his collection of granny porn as well as all this week's profits from the illegal poker operation he has in mid-town.

You can lock me out from opening new accounts, I will be letting my proxify account go unrenewed also in a month or so.  But I dont think it is right that psy pick up the tab on this one.   He and a few others have done alot to keep fornits afloat along with personal sacrifices.  It would be nice to show a little more support for fornits, it has survived this long.  It should continue......

You're planning on deleting his account (and all posts) I bet...  Well.  That's your choice if you own it.  It would slim down the spam content of the database considerably.

WE HAVE 85.  DO I HEAR 90?

I could do that, but i'd rather not, unless it's definitively what you're consenting to and desire...  but then again, there are certain things that can't legally be consented to (such as a waiver of certain rights).  The rationale behind that is people should always be able to change their minds about such grave things.

That being said, what you could do is agree to honor your "scouts honor" promise to stay off the site.  While I don't necessarily trust you to do such a thing (as you breached your promise in the past), it's really the best I can hope for.  You've upset a lot of people around here.  I'm glad you're agreeing to honor their wishes.
