Paul St. John:
=By ALL definitions, it is a cult and operates with the exact paradigm.

= They do not and literally cannot work.

= They are literally not designed to work.

= They serve one god, and that God is death.

= How well, you do there is dependent merely upon how strong of a person you are... not how well you use the program.

= It is a business, but more then that it is a business for people who profit off of death and suicide.

= AND MOST OF IMPORTANTLY, all of the above statements are entirely true.

Elan, or in my case Elan s cousin, Daytop = WRONG, BAD

That's a fact.

LOL!! Just for the fun of it, let s say that I said this there... what would happen next?

They d start to dissect me, and show, how I am projecting, and this is my issue.

Here s a very important identification.

This is their philosophy.. ANYTHING THAT IS IN ANYWAY WRONG IS ALWAYS COMPLETELY WRONG.  THIS IS HOW THEY DESTROY THE HUMAN EGO.

For example, if they say ten things that are complete bullshit, and I prove it, but they find one simple mistake in my logic, then that means, that I am wrong, and the program has persevered again.

This is because they set up the illusion that you are on trial in the first place, which ain t that hard, as most people will at leats feel a little guilty, about being sent to such a place in the first place.

well said.. i had no idea daytop was made by a catholic preist,, but that makes alot of sense. guilt is a powerful tool,, exploited by religions thru out time.is interesting that the same people that have gotten away with buggering little boys took  the  concept  and use it to bugger minds.im also fairly sure that the elan , and daytop concepts were sound in theory,, it only gets twisted by the interpretations of sick individuals that makes it into a monster. thereby turning a cure into a disease. no one expects the spanish inquisition :silly:

a couple of years ago, i got an email from an ex staff member at elan who told me " elan is a vicious cult and needs to be stopped". at the request of that person, i will not say there name, but they are so right. as far as how well you do in elan, or at least in my time there, it was how well you kissed butt and conformed to everything they said and put in your head that determined your success there. if you didnt agree with what they said, then the haircuts, the gms and the signs began. it still boggles my brain how anyone can be staff at a place that clearly would under normal circumstances in the "real" world be found as abusive and clearly a danger to the kids there.   if you said they were wrong in what they were doing, ya, the guilt trips and all the hell that comes with going up against a bully would start all over again. i remember wanting to tell my dad about them putting me in the ring and all the things they said to me during haircuts and gms, and being told, your dad wont believe it anyway, or, we will immediatly end your conversation, or, we wont let you talk to them anymore, or, you shouldnt try to make your parents feel guilty for something that is all your fault, you put yourself here, not them. they are truly sick individuals.

No big deal of course, but on this one small thing, I think that I must disagree with you.
