:D Does he realize he's tagged like an endangered Longhorn sheep?

Don't feel bad, who.  Ya fucked up and asked for something and got more than you expected.  Ethics?  I won't hear any talk of "ethics" from you, old son.  You should have stuck with the ASR forum.

Seems logic finally caught up to you, Zen.  You have been exposed as you should have been by "OH Weht".  You lack ethics, as he/she has mentioned.  No one should have to worry if their private information is going to be posted openly on the forum.  This should be a rule of some sort before anyone becomes a moderator.  and another thing, Why do you continue to be an ass to CCM?

Look, CCM is a suvivor who was essentially raised by programs instead of parents who were willing to provide the kind of guidance, love and support all kids need and deserve.  Her opinion of programs that may have helped her has more to do with her emotional and psychological DEPENDENCY on the program as her surrogate parent/family than anything else.  Certainly she is not a trained child psychologist or behavioral healthcare specialist.  She is not qualified to assess the safety and/or efficacy of any program, good bad or ugly.  Give the lady a break.  She clearly hasn't figured out her emotional dependency on the program was not healthy or helpful.  It was a necessity.  She was filling a huge void in her life and her heart.  Research shows only kids who are a danger to themselves or others need to be placed in a secure (locked) RTC and even then, the average stay on a locked ward is 90 days to stablize the teen, not 4 fucking years, or however long the parents can keep sending money.

Again, notice the blanks...I could have added last name, address, phone number, arrest record... I left all that blank, too.  But someone wants to whitewash it.  How KoolAid.

Once again:  who asked for it, I gave it.  Weasel!

Thanks for verifying I was right...I was only bluffing again

Arrest record? Did you pay to get a background check on CCM? Now THAT is the most creepy thing so far in this thread yet.

I agree!

Bury This Carcass, 2. "A New Day" (Sorry, my computer won't let me post on orig)
« Reply #190 on: February 28, 2008, 06:52:09 PM »
O.K. my computer won’t let me post on the other thread, for some reason, so I'll finish it up here

Quote from: "guest"
I’m an ex- regular who comes no longer. The repelling force isn’t Mike, but a few fire whirls, including the loss of safety in posting here. Currently, one fears moderators will misuse their clout to compromise a vexing poster’s anonymity, or give information about their identities to programs or authorities.

A poster accused Zenagent of sexual abuse, being an alcoholic, and failure, upsetting him. He demanded the poster’s IP. It wasn’t revealed, but it’s repulsive that an accused abuser, who demanded the ID of their complainant- as if they had the right to that info- is now a moderator. Moderating powers should not be given to people who do not recognize ethical boundaries concerning privacy. Only people who don’t use their powers to obtain IPs as a method of handling detractors triggering personal insecurities, should be moderators. Zen’s powers should be strictly limited, or removed.

Mike having an ip collection is creepy, as is che “abusing his powers to check on ips.” This issue should be addressed. Moderators should have no more right to check ips for personal aims than regular posters

There needs to be mechanical limitations on moderator powers and these should publicly posted.

Secondly, Fornits shouldn’t be hijacked by a small group from a traditionally abusive rtc. The YLF forum shouldn’t be on top. The rtcs and cults discussed inside already have their forums. I feel like some program parents don’t “need” this forum emotionally and have turned it into a place where insults about being gay and poor, and orders to identify yourself have replaced communication. They aren’t interested n communication but a bully-pulpit platform which has resulted in a corresponding decline of other voices

Finally, fornits should be fully anon again. Stop forcing “name” declarations when logging in as guest. “Tortured kids,” “cafety,” and mike’s forum are dead because of the “signing in” policy. The emotions provoked by discussion of therapeutic cult abuse are too painful to expect people to log in. This I.D.ing policy drives survivors away.

Who decides how the forum is run, anyway?
Whoever that is should consider these issues. I surmised that people would stop posting when invasive I.D.ing and unreliable moderators became worries, and this prediction has proved accurate.

With that said, there is no pleasing everyone. Individually, I’d like to feel relatively comfortable that my right to privacy is respected, even if I piss off individual moderators, and that all survivors aims are considered.

And before we EVEN go there, I’m not a troll, or involved in any of the personal disputes referenced.

The above’s my post, my only on this thread, and I was a regular. Remember the kid describing their insomnia & nightmares, and Aaron responding that he has a hooker under the bed, and that’s why he can’t sleep?--that was me (the insomniac, not hooker.)

I just returned to this thread and am shocked by how quickly –and swinishly- it moved. No one should presume another's identities and use that as an excuse to hurt a survivor.

Firstly, I don’t know what lists Psy has. I go by the info I read here.
Quote from: "guest"
In defense of Psy, it seems to me he is very transparent and makes an effort to explain himself and his actions without much prompting from the peanut gallery which I think most people respect him for.
I agree. The banning and threatening was over the line- but people make mistakes. This issue should be remedied (the banned guy- reinstated) and moved beyond

Secondly, Zen demanded a posters’ IP in the web subfoum. An accused abuser, or anyone, who demands a poster’s IP just because they are personally embarrassed shouldn’t have powers Am I to understand he gave out CCM girl’s personal info also? That’s VERY, VERY slimy, and, from what I see… part of a dishonorable pattern of behavior.  What if CCM girl wants to take her abusers to court? What personal info would he make available to program forces because of personal embarrassment or animosity? How would he misuse his power with someone else?. His authority should be removed or limited.

Thirdly, you have to give a name when you log in as a guest, even if you just write guest. Therefore, it isn’t really anon, and an impediment to posting.

Fourthly, the yfl forum shouldn’t be on top

Most importantly, it’s a revelation to me that moderating powers are so circumscribed. Knowing they are is comforting.
There should be a sticky explaining what moderators and administrators have the power to do, and not do.

So, there you have it. Ta-Da. Please review some of these suggestions, as some might be useful.

This has always been a big point with me.  There should be some expectations as users (customers) on how our posts will be handled and/or what the rules are.

1.   Private Messages carry an implied security that the posts will not end up on the open forum.  This has been proven not to be true over and over again and was violated again today when a survivors personal information was reposted on the open forum by a fornits moderator because she didn’t agree with him.

2.   If you have a user name and cannot log in is it okay to post as a guest?  Apparently not.  I have been harassed all day because of this.  I indicated that the moderator (psy) could tag my posts if he liked, but I was asked to leave the forum if I wasn’t logged in.

3.   One of the admins became frustrated with me at one point and started fabricating posts and tagging them as my own.

4.   Another moderator became so angry that he threatened to expose me if he could get my IP address because I would release personal information on the forum.

This information can be confirmed by reading the thread:

“Bury this rotten carcass, it is starting to stink”

I think there should be a set of rules for admins to follow and what we can expect as users of the fornits forum.  There are many that do not want to post because they are not sure if they can speak openly and/or afraid to rock the boat with their opinions with fear their personal information will be exposed here.

Maybe a list of rules or assurances as we enter the individual forums would help, i.e. what are the admins and mods allowed or not allowed to do.... what personal information to they have access to.... can all admins and mods read the personal messages?......  Can they review these messages and make this information public if they like.

Accusing a complete stranger of being an abuser isn't VERY, VERY slimy?  You don't understand, either.  I posted a first name and blanks...Now, we'll pull down the curtain:

She posted her name on another site.

And her pictures.

No magic, just an address search in CA.

Careful what you post on the internet.

And for the last time, (you must be the who) I don't have admin status.  I see one IP - MINE.  I don't have anything to TAKE AWAY.

Do you have a clue now?

Keeping it locked is a good idea, in my opinion, its a good read on how moderators and Admins react to different adversities and how they abuse their power openly here on fornits by exposing people.  The original purpose of having moderators was to facilitate the discussion and help people, invite new readers and posters instead of threats and chasing people away.
