I'm not much of a reformist, myself. No sense in trying to improve upon an inherently flawed premise. You won't get anywhere.

Joel,

I tried to find the thread where expeditions (wilderness challenge) is disccussed. I couldn't find it. (unfortunately the 'search' function on fornits has been broken for some time)

On that thread I elaborated how we should have been going on wilderness challenge's every 2 months. I mentioned many other improvements.

- Rap reduction
- Yelling reduction
- Unqualified staff elimination
- Transparency
- Better academics

That's just a placeholder until I can come up with something better.

What? You don't like blood sports?

Anyway, yes, hey there, Joel.

There have been several times I've thought about improvements that could have been made at RMA.  I thought supervision was terrible.  For example, there was little to no supervision when students were walking back to the dorms at night.  There was very little supervision when students transitioned betweened meals, raps and activities.  The RMA staff talked alot about "making things safe" but I didn't see them putting in the "footwork" like they should have. In addition, propheets could have been run better.  I think RMA staff could have started them earlier in the day and ended them before last light.  They kept students up late into the night.  That defeated the purpose of students getting the most they could out of propheets.  Finally, there were students that should not have been placed in the same dorm together.  This was a big problem.

Joel,
I think i remember you.  i was there from 89-spring of 92.  My name is Amanda Hasuly.  I don't know why, but RMA has been knocking on my brain's door.  Struggling with alot that went on there and not to mention horrific resentment towards my mother.  I am really glad i found this forum.
