WOAH!! Look at the first paragraph!

Quote
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE: UHS) announced today that its reported net income was $28.9 million, or $.54 per diluted share, during the third quarter of 2007 as compared to $113.9 million, or $2.00 per diluted share, during the comparable prior year quarter. For the nine months ended September 30, 2007, reported net income was $130.4 million, or $2.43 per diluted share, as compared to $225.3 million, or $3.89 per diluted share, during the comparable nine-month period in the prior year.

Net income for this quarter dropped 75% from last year! Pure ownage, and hardly the sign of a growing company.

don't be fooled by just looking at net income, you have to look at net revenues and also the deductions that go into that net income line. And don't misinterpret my intentions in posting this information as did the previous poster, I am not happy about these numbers, I am very concerned about the growth in the industry:

Net revenues increased 13% to $1.18 billion during the third quarter of 2007 as compared to $1.04 billion during the third quarter of 2006. Net revenues increased 14% to $3.56 billion during the first nine months of 2007 as compared to $3.13 billion during the comparable nine-month period of 2006.

Yup, the extremely small number consisting of... pretty much everything on every forum on this board (excepting, of course, the hopeless arguments with shills), all of Anti-WWASP, all of ISAC, the GAO getting completely flooded by so many allegations of abuse they had to expand their investigations to an entirely new second round, the assorted pissed survivors that keep popping up all over Myspace, Facebook, Wikipedia talk pages...

Oh yeah, that's an extremely small number all right.

Parents, this man wants control of YOUR children, etc.

And they pay extremely well, and thank us everyday for the service we provide. If you are so concerned about abusive programs, why don't you start your own that is safe? You just whine all day and expect things to get done, the world does not work that way.

Since the items included or excluded from these measures are significant components in understanding and assessing financial performance under GAAP, these measures should not be considered to be alternatives to net income as a measure of our operating performance or profitability. Since these measures, as presented, are not determined in accordance with GAAP

El Oh the fucking El.

How would you like your books, sautee'd, fried, or boiled?

I try to think of other companies that used to do this, and a certain California energy company just keeps coming up...
