Blame Game
« on: March 02, 2002, 11:25:00 PM »
I can only speak for the time I was actually in Elan, which was 1986-1988. During that time I was asked to a great deal of cleaning. I was punished for doing stuff wrong, but not anything more then extra chores and wearing a few signs. I was given a GM when I decided to take off to Boston, while on an outing. I didn't a agree with the ring, which should never have been used to make a point. I made some great friends, which included a few staff. I think that certain Directors (anne flynn) were a little power hungry and abused their power. However, that's the case is these situation. I would give my overall experience a B-. I believe the 12 steps would have been useful in this program, sence almost everyone appeared to have a drug problem. I might have been a special case, because I didn't see that place as crazy, twisted, or abusive, but such as life. Find the good in any situation is not myt moto, but there was a whole lot of good in that dam place.

Well, we meet again Mr. Adam Moore. Big hug to you
I don't blame Elan for anything but I damn sure won't give them any credit for helping me out or making me a better person. I did that on my own. LONG after leaving Elan!

Elan resident from 1987-1989

It has been my experience during the past 12 years since researching Elan, Joe Ricci and how Elan was modeled that Elan was extremely harmful, in my opinion.

The witnesses to this harm are the HUNDREDS upon hundreds of former Elan Survivors who have given witness to the apparent abuses of civil rights.

I only knbow of a handful who were helped.
