THE WHO has sunk to a new ignoramus level.
Yoo-Who .... Ever heard of consumer awareness and proctection?
People who use educational consultants or these so-callled parent resource companies are consumers of a product, in this case, a referral or recommendation to what these businesses often times claim are "pre-screened" programs for troubled youth. There is an element of "trust" that is often present in these businesses sales and marketing efforts (e.g. testimonials, references) not unlike what you would expect to see on any late night informercial for facial creams, makeup, work-out equipment, etc.
When a consumer does not have a satisfactory experience with a product they have received, they are free to register a complaint, file a lawsuit, ask for a refund, etc.
That is the nature of the beast.
An unhappy customer can cost a business much more than a single sale which is why most reputable companies strive to resolve complaints against them to the mutual satisfaction of both parties.
What's different about this business is the fact that when a child dies while in a program, there are no refunds.
There are only wrongful death lawsuits.
And that, Who, makes consumer awareness and protection, as well as mandating full disclosure in this industry extremely important.
See ISAC's watchlist of programs and referrers to get an idea of what I mean.
