I had a real hard time with this. Finally, I let
them convince me that I was, or I just played along. I guess deep down I knew that it was a
bunch of crap. I don't know whether or not there were any 'heavy' reasons for my drug use, I think I just liked them...and enjoyed listening to music more than doing schoolwork.
I had let up for a while before I went in the program. School was just a drag, and I wanted to leave home if my parents were going to continue to interfere with my sex life. So I left home for a month, came back, and it was only a couple of weeks before I ended up in straight. (Now talk about interference!!)
I was not an addict. I was not even "becoming" one...Like I said, I wasn't drinking or smoking much of anything at that point. My parents just didn't know what to do about me, them being who they were, and straight was good at selling itself to them.
