Toils Toils Troubles err.. bubbles..kk.. bleh
« on: September 07, 2007, 01:13:14 AM »
Right then.. Here I was sitting at a pc at this cyber cafe booking a room in my next destination. I'm drinking a cold coke and pondering what to do with the rest of the day when someone private messages me on my yahoo account.

This person says, "Dan I got some great information, but you have to promise never to tell another person about it."

I say, "ummm ok."

Person sends me email....

I read email....

I shit my pants...

I clean my pants...

Now I'm stuck.. obviously this person has something in mind, but god damn.. this information is so frucking hot off the press it is leaving my brain spinning in circles.

this is a hard confirmation of a collusion between two parties to send a kid to a program for a "small" fee.

So damn.. you know I fricking wish the person hadn't said anything, because now I'm stuck keeping a secret.

So what do you all think?

Break my promise and tell all?

Keep my mouth shut?

You are bound to keep your mouth shut.  There is money and reputations at stake.  Think about what is more important!!

When I sent...errr when you received that email it was implied that it would be kept secret and in confidence.

you are bound by your own conscience....  I persoanlly think you are an ass for bringing this up on a public forum, there may be no turning back.

Well.  It depends on his policy.  For example, I consider it OK to publicize emails if they are from or to industry members (and even to lie to obtain information from the industry).  Essentially, i'm advocating investigative "under-cover" journalism.

Really sucks to have personal, private information used against you doesn't it?

Yeah.  It sucks even harder for the kids.  Happens to them on a daily basis in  Who's special brand of, ahem, "treatment".

And of all people  you sent it to TSW?  You've been here long enough to know better than that.

Under most circumstances, but consider that at least in my program, there were a great many things that were part of the "code of silence".  If I break that, in order to help another, is it it wrong?

If he gave his word to TheWho, yes, you're probably right, but even then, as in the above example, there are always times...  It depends.  I have very little, if any compassion for people who participate, however indirectly, in this cancerous industry.

TSW may be many things, but I think we can all agree he speaks his mind and follows what he thinks is right, even if it makes him look bad.  He is one of the few people who I know has worked as staff and now advocates against most programs and therefore thought his opinion would be impartial or at least neutral and honest and that is why someone  turned to him with this.  But it just burns my butt to no end to see him make a public poll out of this in place of relying on his own conscience.

Remember, TSW, Umbra is an American based Company.
