i look on this parody site and daryl beard is list as a.....well you know what. that word is hateful and ignorant and whoever posted that should realize this: daryl beard does not deserve that. the site was funny until that. jesus christ, learn some humanity, we need to conduct ourselves better than angst ridden remorse driven cutthroats. the n word was used to describe laziness, but it was formed into a racial slur to degrade a race. think above that shit people.

I'm offended by some of what is on that site, but it is not my site, or Ginger's.

Yeah, precisely that! The only real value I see in that kind of material is that it might sometimes boost the morale of a kid who's still terrified of these bastards. Anne, how much more therapeutic was it to light bong hits with votive candles taken from Virgil's little shrine to himself than any of the sober, dry proceedings that had come before? Gods bless Trekker Jag!

Oh, and I really could have done without ever seeing Goat Ass again ever! My daughter terrorized me with that for at least a couple of months a couple of years back. She found it very amusing the way I'd freak once I looked long enough to realize what I was looking at and by then it was too late. The image was burned into my brain like those floating colorful shapes from old fashioned camera flash cubes.

But seriously, sometimes laughing at the devil can be very therapeutic. I like to think somebody out there somewhere gets a moral boost from seeing their own personal boogie men publicly humiliated and the antagonist not be struck by lightening. It might even give them enough courage to come forward with the serious shit with maybe a little less fear of retaliation.

So rock on, rock on. I may not [agheghm] fully appreciate all manner and form of art that people put out there, but what do I know? It's not my place to control what other people say or how they choose to say it.

No shit.  That single act did more towards giving me any sense of closure (I'm so sorry to use such a cliche word, but in this case it fits) then anything else I had done to try and fill that hole they left me with.   That bastard terrorized me.  He and my dad were a lot alike and I was terrified of him for a long time.  To face him, on my own terms and say whatever the fuck I wanted to say to him (both literally and figuratively) without fear of reprisal was a priceless gift.  I let it fly too.  Especially on Ruth Ann, sadistic little cunt that she is.   I turned out the most vile, vicious, depraved and nefarious shit I could come up with.  In other words, I threw back at them exactly what they threw at me.    Just like they justified what they did by insisting that they were "saving" me,  the end here justifies the means.  I am a product of their little experiment and I've come back to haunt them.

You know who's not complaining about this?

Daryl Beard.

HLA sure as hell isn't going to tell him. See, if he knew about that page, he'd get a link to Fornits, and here he might hear things that his HLA masters don't want him to hear. FunkyChild, if he's such a great guy, why the fuck does he still work there? Someone ought to take him aside and say "oh hi, this is actually hurting these kids pretty damn bad, the place cannot be saved, gtfo". Having HLA on his conscience- and his resume- is a hell of a lot worse than some over-the-top site, liberally spiced with Goatse, disturbing WW2-era pics, and porn, calling him a nigger.

Same goes for everyone else on that staff roster who hasn't completely guzzled the Kool-Aid.

this is all fine and dandy, it's okay that y'all are pissed, i'm not saying that daryl is the best guy to grace the earth, but if you're mad at him, criticize his actions and not his skin color. how hard is that?

I don't disagree, however, I didn't create the content.  Somebody came to me saying "hey.. this parody site on hla I made got a request to be taken down... do you have room on your server"...  I checked it over with the relavant people who said "sure" and it's now hosted with us.  I haven't even had time to review the whole site.

look.  The ACLU defended neo-nazis rights to free speech.. it doesn't mean they approve.  The person who made the HLA site is now doing another one for Aspen.  He realized he went a bit overboard with the HLA thing (his words, not mine) and has decided to make the other less of a "shock-site" as HLA.info was intended to be.

I know the guy personally and know that he is not racist.  He meant it as over the top satire and if it came out as racism..

Look.. there is a certain internet subculture that finds entertainment in over that type of over the top humor...  Often people who aren't familiar with that subculture are offended because they mis-interpret what was intended to be funny..

See an article on jews written by jews here:
http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Jew

Or an article written on blacks by the one of the Sysops on the site (sheneequa)

It's a different culture, and completely different humor (geeky, with subtle subtext).

Psy, Anon,
Please move your posts in this thread re: Who to

and delete them in this thread. Discuss Who there. This thread was started by FunkyChild re: the HLA parody site.... NOT WHO.
Thanks

i personally think that site is a low blow to many of the staff working there and also just plain cruel. i dont think the way any of them look or what their race is is relevant to how "awful hla is".
i was especially offended when i saw what my counselors had been described as and the pictures that went along with them. those people had opened the doors to their home for us not once, not twice, but three times, even after someone in my pg was caught for taking something from the house.
and dont even get me started on the things that were written about beau. he is probably the kindest most amazing person i have ever met in my life and there are plenty of people, even current students at hla, that agree with me.
i havent been reading all these posts long enough to even begin to figure out who made that site, but common sense tells me that it was someone who hasnt ever even crossed paths with half of those people.
sure, there were times when i got sick of the place and annoyed with staff who i felt were a constant nag. but i got over it. not once was i ever abused, either physically or emotionally. sometimes the staff have bad days and can be extra annoying...but guess what? they're human. thats no reason to be humiliated on the world wide web.

i wasnt at hla "back in the day" when restrictions only got a cheese sandwich or whatever, but i heard stories. if any of those stories are true then just let me say that hla isnt like that anymore. i didnt love it there but it was liveable and i even made some friends along the way.

i know im not gonna change yalls minds about the school, but dont  be so cruel towards those that did their best to make things a little better there.

oh my god they were nice enough to let someone back who STOLE something. WOW! That is amazing. I mean who would think. Give it some time you'll wake up.  Give it some time. Abuse is often disguised with the illusion of helping someone.

How can you tell someone don't be so cruel when you haven't a clue? It's their right just as it's your right to come here and say what you are saying. Check the first amendment and suck it up.

i apologize guest. i most certainly did not mean to infringe on anyone's first ammendment right to talk a bunch of trash on the oh-so-hard-up internet.

before i finish, let me just ask you, how did HLA 'abuse' you? did one of the staff hurt your feelings? maybe you should just "suck it up".

ive said all i care to say.

Some wouldn't recognize abuse/neglect if it bit them on the butt.
