As long as you can show there is an applicaiton for a passport pending, you can still get into Mexico and Canada with a state ID and/or birth cert.  Because of the back log in passports, the State Department has extended the time.  I believe the Carribean is also listed.  Look at the State Department Passport Section for reference.  I don't have it off hand, otherwise I would have put it here.  Good luck.


Thanks Julie. Only thing is if she doesn't get a passport application or applications  before they start trying to locate her and her niece and if she applies while on the run, that could help locate her and her niece

She can get a certified copy of birth the same day at the county recorder, then all she has to do is go to AAA and get passport photos, or mailboxes, or anyone that does them for that matter, then go to a local Post office that does passports, get the application fill it out and submit it, they give you back receipts and documentation showing that you have applied.

It's been so long, I am not sure if you have to be a parent or guardian whose applying, and if not, a notarized letter from the parent or guardian.  Kelly can go online and check that out too.

Almost forgot, some states have changed their laws as to who is entitled to certain recorded documents from the County Recorders Office.  Just another headsup.

Her mom might be going along with the escort stuff alright - but what I'm saying is the air lines wont - not if she will say loud and plain and with out stopping: "I am being taken against my will; I do not want to board this plane!"

As for coming across fundamentalist - no problem ;) I am pretty much what most people would call a fundi - or an evangelical  - but basically, I do believe the Bible is God's word. Our Lord is very clear that we are not to do harm to one another - and especially not to children. It is also equally clear that faith is not something you can force on a person - and that attempting to do so will do both you and them more harm than good.

I might be able to help your sister see things from another POV - that is in keeping with Christian living. I'm willing to try.
