Does anyone have any comments on either the oaks treatment center in austin texas or the san marcos treatment center in san marcos texas. both are still in operation but under new management. I was at both LOCKUP facilities and it was hellishly awful. help a jigga out...

Back in 1999 I was a resident at Laurel Ridge in San Antonio, a sister program of The Oaks and  San Marcos TC.  In 2004 I had the displeasure of working at the oaks for a brief 4 months before I quit because it was such a horrible place.  When were you there?

I was at San Marcos Treatment Center august 11, 2000 until september 8, 2000 on the diagnostic evaluation New Heights unit. Then,  I was transfered to The Oaks Treatment Center in Austin. I was at The Oaks from September 8, 2000 until April 9, 2001. Then I was transfered back to San Marcos Treatment Center Gateway Unit and was there from April 9, 2001 until my discharge March 15, 2002. After returning home for a brief period, I was then sent to Benchmark Young Adult School and eventually graduated top honors gold medal Junuary 2004. Maybe you know me.

You GRADUATED from BENCHMARK ??!!?!??!!  HOLY FUCK !!!

The guy I know who was in benchmark with me... he was in San Marcos Treatment Centre just before.  Did the treatment centre refer you to Benchmark directly?  Wow.  I've never met a benchmark graduate.  Would you mind contacting me at [email protected] . I'd love to hear if and how things have changed since I left in 02.

Gold medal... so you went level 1 to level 2 to level 3.  Wow.  I was at Benchmark for a year and saw all of 3 people graduate.

I was a student at the Brown Schools both at the Oaks unit in austin, Tx and in the San Marcus unit. I started out in the Oaks at the age of 8 and it was pure "Hell" The staff would get you in the swimming pool and hold your legs and make you paddle with your arms until you got so tired you didn't care if you stayed above the water or now.

Their was a lot of sexual abuse between the staff and the students. All this before the school got really bad. I was their from 1958 until 1965. At least back then no one was killed!  It got much worse after the school sold out in bankruptcy in the later years.

even now, I won't go near a swimming pool!

I am so sorry you had to go through that during your stay at the Brown Schools.

I was at The Oaks treatment center 1979 to 1982. I was on the STAC unit for 4 or 5 months, moved to Little Oaks and ended up on Live Oaks. I was heavily drugged while I was the there. I did 3 solitary restrictions while I was there; one for 3 weeks in a security room at the CSO, and two room restrictions 2-3 months each while on Live Oaks. There were a few staff that I got very attached to while I was there, but the experience did me more harm than good. It took years to adjust to being out after I was pulled out. I still struggle with some of the things I was taught there and ways that I was forced to think. To this day, I wonder about the others that were there with me and how they made out in life.

I was in the Oaks unit from 1957 until 1967 . In about 1965, I go moved to the Brown hall unit in San Marcus and was their until 1967 when I came back to my family, weent on to finish high schooland colliege.

Your so right, the Brown schools was a very bad, and "Hellish" place. From what I have learned, it even go much worse after it was sold to some privite corpation. Then students were killed and other things happend.

Would love to corerspond to anyone that was a past student of The Brown Schools.
