Google Alerts does that for free. Check out mapinc.org too. They're focused on a particular issue and pretty much volunteer driven, but they're pretty comprehensive and I can't imagine no one has replicated the model.

Much of what I am looking for is old (more than 5 years, in some cases decades), and consequently they generally charge...  Also not in the realm of what MAPinc covers.  Not sure that any other organization would have interest in collecting this stuff for free... would love to be wrong!   :lol:
