Now this is some serious parenting! Where's Covergaard when you need him?

BERLIN - A Danish woman whose teenage son locked himself into her car and refused to get out borrowed a policeman's ax and smashed open a window to make the boy change his mind, police said Monday.

The police was present.

It was the policeman, who borrowed her the axe. In Germany the police wear axes because they use it to smash doors and windows, when they arrive first at the scene of a fire and has to go in and save people.

It is a little strange procedure. I would proberly bought a burger and something to drink and just waited for him being hungry. I dont keep a lot of food in my car for the same reason. But they could have been parked in a place where they could not stayed for longer period. If that was the case I would have asked the policeman to smash the window instead, because he would be more experienced with the axe.

Breaking a window always holds the risk of injuring the boy if he cut himself on the glass.

Because I am provident when I have decided to raise children with an independant mind. There is no reason to provide supplys for a conflict, which would take place at some point in the future.

The last years towards adulthood consist of the difficult process of breaking free of the parents. Conflicts will come. No doubt about that. I would not have done my job properly if no conflict would ever arise.

Take an area like runaways in Denmark. It is not a crime in Denmark for a child to run away. The police would of course try to locate the child. Once they have done that it is the parents job to take the child home unless they are discovered at a unhealthy environment. If they are unsuccesful, the parents can contact the social services, who will try to find a placement at a community home or a supervised apartment depending of the age of the child.

If the woman had used an axe without the police being present, I would be concerned.

BTW. How would a woman in the states solve this problem? How would a policeman in the states solve the problem if he was called out to the place? What would happen to the child?

In the states we have a system called OnStar. You call a number, give them an access code and they open the door for you by satellite. OnStar also has a service called“RideAssist” which will automatically summons an escort vehicle to your location to take you or the child to any location you wish to go.

Here in the States, the cops would shoot the windows out and arrest the kid for stealing the car. They would prosecute the kid as an adult.

Leave it to the Who to distort reality, again. OnStar customers are a very small percentage of the population.

Yeah, you may be correct but I think most cars now have the Keyless-go or similar system, or some type of remote entry system so that kids cant get locked inside. There are very few cars, that I have seen, that still rely solely on a key to enter the vehicle anymore.

I like the youtube atomic ant. I had a ’65 1/2 mustang myself years ago, baby blue, gave it up for a Chevy van! Go figure.

More typical of program parents is "BlondeStar."

Here in the Midwest we have a handy little tool called a Slim Jim.
You slide it in between the window and the door and trigger the locking mechanism. It takes the cop about 1-4 minutes! No damage is done to the car!

You just tap the window until it cracks a little,then you use your hand and mash the safety glass in.

There are people who use a small bit of glass from a spark plug,because its harder than window glass,and slowly and quietly tap it on the window until it cracks a bit,then they quietly mash in the window and steal your car.

The cops carry the slimjim so that,after they take you to jail for drunk driving,they can return to your car,open it,and rifle through your stuff looking to steal something.
