ISABELLE ZEHNDER - PARENT CONSULANT
« on: March 23, 2007, 06:36:02 AM »
http://isabellezehnder.blogspot.com/

Isabelle encourages parents who are considering placing their child or teen in a program or facility away from home to contact her at info@caica.org. She provides a free, one-hour consultation to help parents make an informed decision for their child. As mentioned above, this industry is not regulated. There is no Federal oversight and there is no governing body monitoring what goes on behind closed doors. This leaves the door wide open for abuse and neglect to occur. Isabelle believes it is vital that parents seeking residential placement for the child or teen be well informed. This is one of the biggest decisions parents will make, so making it in haste, out of fear, and without doing research can be disasterous, as we have too often seen.

Who needs more than one guess where she is sending these parents?
And is there anybody who imagines she isn't getting paid to do so?

She can go on and on about how CACA is not paid for referrals. . . Has nothing to do with paying little Izzy.  After all, her professional and educated opinion is worth a bit. Her efforts to recruit theses parents of some value. Besides, she said from day one, she intended to make this advocacy business make money.

She did seem to bow out at one point because it wasn't paying off. But then she made some changes to her web site (most notably took down all reference to Whitmore and the charges of child abuse) and began to sing the praises of PURE. And now she is providing "free" counseling to parent shopping for programs. . .

Anybody surprised?

Anybody know what Isabelle SAYS are her qualifications for dispensing such advice to parents?

She's not a psychologists, social worker, or degreed in iany such field is she?
Is she like Sue Scheff...just a parent helping parents" type person?

This is beyond "surpising."

bump ....

Curious to know whether Isabelle charges a fee for her "services" after the one hour free consultation?  If so, how much?

Also, if she is recommending options, what are they?  Is PURE one of them or is she referring directly to their programs?

Why don't you call and find out? Let us know.
If its legal in your state, you might want to record it.

She has spent the past three years researching this industry, helping families, mentoring children who have been abused, providing the public with what has been called the most comprehensive website on this topic, working with lawyers and legislators. She has listened to hundreds of stories from children who have been abused and neglected in these programs. She has researched and reported on deaths in programs, something that has been extremely difficult to do. She consults with families in crisis who do not want to make the same mistakes so many others have made.

"what has been called the most comprehensive website ..."?

By whom?  PURE?

These are her qualifications?

Where's the degree in adolescent and child psychology?

Or any degree, for that matter?  So far, I see nothing on CAICA's website to confirm what this lady's professional training and level of education is.

I hope parents are not naive enough to believe that just because someone claims to be an "expert" they are.

As far as mentoring abused children -  that's an area of specialized training and professionalism that I would expect to see on someone's C.V. (curriculum vitae) not some obscure blog.

Nope -- but then again, Izzy probably thinks most people are too stupid to remember the ole' adage ... "there's no such thing as a free lunch".

Is there some business in Portland, Oregon that Isabelle Zehnder is connected with?

Her profile says Portland, Oregon area.

Strange.  On myspace, she says she lives in Washington State.
