I certainly wondered the same thing.
Seems to be common in the industry that these sessions are not considered confidential. They just trot any old stranger into the group.
They can be humiliating enough, without having spectators. It's unethical.

Pretty common theme in the industry on a larger scale is programs toadying up to ED Cons. Must keep the dollars rolling in you know!

Reals for the Ed Cons were always "dog & pony" shows. EVERYONE was warned to be on thier best behavior.
