Spring Creek lodge / Whispering Pines Academy
« on: February 25, 2007, 09:12:45 PM »
Does anyone have any info on a {NEW PROGRAM FOR TEENS AT RISK} called Whispering Pines? It is Located about 10 mile From Spring Creek Lodge in Montana. They are advertising that they have room for 48 teens. The directors name is Mike Linderman he is suppose to be a licenced clinical psychologist. I think he worked for Spring Creek at the same time they had a girl there that commited suicide. There is also a guy named Glen Schenavar that is named as Manager of operations that also worked for or was paid by Spring Creek Lodge. I have heard that there are several other people that work there that also worked for Spring Creek Lodge. Are these 2 programs linked? Also there is a guy named JIM DORRIN that is suposed to be a multi millionair from California that put up the money for the bussiness. Any Info would be helpful.
Thanks

Mike was the head of Cabinet Mountain Mental Health which was the counseling services provided to SCLA. My understanding is that Mike was gifted the land to start his own school.

Gifted???? By Who??? Spring creek Lodge??? Is this a way to move kids around at Spring Creek??. I have heard that Mike Linderman supervised all treatment for all the students at Spring Creek Lodge including the girl that commited suicide. There is a rumor at the local school that Glen Schenavar ran a wilderness program for Spring Creek and he had a serious incident with a girl student. Seems a little strange that a new program would hire / gift these 2 people with a lawsuit pending. Still wondering if there is a connection between the 2 programs. Something doesn't add up!

I don't know that you are going to find a hard connection between the school. Many soft connections.

Mike should have been at SCLA at the time of the girls death. You might want to read the book Come Back. It is written by Mia and Claire Fontaine and Mike is mentioned in the book. Mia graduated from SCL after her first school out of the states closed.

I can't tell you much about who did the gifting and my information was delivered from my child who attended and was pulled from SCL and another parent who talked with Mike.

Keep in mind also that Mike was part of Cabinet Mountaion Mental Health which has seperate billing from SCLA billing. Their offices are on the same campus. Not sure if that matters or not.

While I don't agree with all that goes on at the WWASP schools I do think that Mike is probably a good guy. At the end of the day it is a business and some kids/families get shafted if they aren't paying attention. These schools are needed and I was glad they were there when I was facing my kid possibly having a very short life if something didn't interrupt their pattern of behavior. The schools should be regulated in some manner.

Did you watch the Montane PBS special on boarding schools. It was titled "Who's watching the kids".

Did some more digging and found this:

Linderman, Mike
*THE TEEN WHISPERER: How to Break Through the Silence and Secrecy that Defines Teenage Life
Over the last ten years, psychologist Mike Linderman has saved the lives of thousands of teens at the Spring Creek
Lodge, a school for troubled young adults. He has mastered the art of breaking through the secrets teens keep in
order to get to the root of their problems. Most of the teens Linderman treats are angry, abused, violent, and
dangerous ? they are children without hope. With a blend of down-home honesty, military-like discipline and a layer
of trust and love very rarely found in the therapist?s office, he has achieved an extraordinary success rate in helping
these teens turn their lives around forever, earning him the nickname ?the Teen Whisperer.? Linderman shares with
parents the rules that show teens how to trust themselves and others; process emotion and pain in healthy ways;
understand boundaries; gain joy and pride in work; and live a life of love, respect and gratitude. Linderman has
worked with some of the worst of today?s teens, but he sees the same problems in families everywhere. Now,
Linderman shares his secrets for healing the family crisis, and reclaiming our children from the secrets that they
keep. Regan

Well, either he's one of those perverts who knows just how to inflict Stockholm on a lot of naive girls, or he's simply made a lot more MySpace accounts and taken the faces from his enormous stash of child porn.

Either way.

I just heard that Mike Linderman was fired or quit Whispering Pines. It hasn't even opened it's doors yet   According to the local newspaper it is to open in June. Doesn't sound like Mike Linderman was gifted anything but a sale job :cry2:  So I wonder who is behind Whispering Pines??? There are still rumors around that Glen Schenavar ex  Spring Creek employee / house painter is opening it for Spring Creek or is tied in with a Jim Dorrian from California.

Claire Fontaine founder

Below is from the website of Claireandmia.com, authors of Come Back, an account of Claire's daughter Mia's stay at WWASP Morava, then transferred to Spring Creek where she was treated by Mike Linderman.  Come Back was not very Pro "the Company" (WWASP) when Morava was closed, but the book is very pro Glenn, head of Morava & staff there. Also very positive in book about Mike Linderman. Claire was founding member of Whispering Pines.  I would guess she started it for Mike to work there (just a guess).

Claire Fontaine is an author and screenwriter who has worked with numerous award-winning producers and directors. She was the recipient of the European Manuscript Development Award (MediaOne Award). After her experience with Mia, she founded the LA Family Support Group to assist families in crisis. She is a founding board member of Whispering Pines Academy, a non-profit, state-of-the-art adolescent diagnostic and treatment facility opening in the summer of 2007. She continues to write and is currently developing memoir writing retreats and, along with Mia, mother/daughter writing workshops. Come Back has been selected as Book of the Month by the Target Book Club.

Yeah, the program Morava she referred to as "oddly" being accused of being abusive.

This lady is a piece of work IMO.  Another parent who thinks they are experts in raising other people's kids.  I saw them on Bill O'Reilly.  Of course, he had not done his homework.  He should have had Maia Szalvitz as a guest instead.

Let's just hope the same thing doesn't happen with another program parent turned book-writer named Sue Scheff.  That would really put me over the top.
