My guess is that they don't understand considering they have never really cared about these kids before. I also don't think that The Hyde Leadership Charter Schools knows what they are in for, this is the roughest neighborhood in the roughest borough in the City of New York. So maybe it's a match made in hell.

Buy the way I speak from first hand experience as to the condition of this neighborhood, I work about 10 blocks from this charter school and let me tell that even the police from the 41st precinct( Fort Appache) have given up on this section of the south Bronx.

Forgive me if I appear to be rambling it's Friday afternoon, I'm beat and still face a two hour commute home at the end of my day.

I can't imagine the kind of antics the that Joe pulled in Bath will go over in the Bronx. Reading between the lines of the incident in D.C. I think the sisters put the man in his place.
I can only imagine that for the kids there will be some sort of improvement in the quality of the process. You can be assured it will not be the same process we were privy too. Hyde will put lipstick on the pig and declare victory. As I said, at least the kid may get something out of it.

It's all very incestuous, isn't it? Joanne (Wingood) Goubourn, overlapped with Laura (Denton) Gauld (the former 1 or 2 years older). JoAnne's older brother Harold overlapped with Malcom Gauld. Harold Wingood was involved at some point with Laurie (Gauld) Hurd, the latter now married to Paul Hurd, alledgedly Hyde's first graduate.

No way in hell would any self-respecting public school parent put up with the hoopla and hysteria promulgated down the throats of the captive audience at the boarding schools. It is a seriously diluted version you are getting (which is a good thing for you). I've even read of Hyde personnel discussing the necessity of pretty much scrapping the Brother's Keeper bit for all practical purposes, as it just doesn't wash at public school.

No comparison here.

Why one would assume that the poor kids from DC or the Bronx do better with a bad hyde education as opposed to a bad regular public school education. Hyde doesn't have a noble mission at heart it's all about money, possibly a pool prospective applicants for their boarding schools to show a ethnic mix and bring more grant money. Hyde is not redeemable at all on campus or on the outside world. If you want more info on the Hyde financials check out www.guidestar it is pretty educationnal.
