New York State Funding Charter School In South Bronx

--- Quote ---I can't imagine the kind of antics the that Joe pulled in Bath will go over in the Bronx. Reading between the lines of the incident in D.C. I think the sisters put the man in his place. I can only imagine that for the kids there will be some sort of improvement in the quality of the process. You can be assured it will not be the same process we were privy too. Hyde will put lipstick on the pig and declare victory. As I said, at least the kid may get something out of it.

Do elaborate, please? What was the incident in D.C.?

Some where on this board, there is a letter written by Joe apologizing for this behavior in DC. The gist is some one at the DC school questioned his authority and he blew a fuse and started ranting. This I suppose presented His Holiness with two situations that he was not used to dealing with: being questioned and having to adhere to the standards applied to others in civil discourse.
In local level politics, which is what running a school IS in the real world, some one is going to get in your face and say "who the hell do you think you are?" Especially if you are a white carpet bagger in a black neighborhood dressed in a cardigan and golf pants.

So who were "the sisters?"
On another note, something none of us thought to bring up, perhaps because it is so glaringly obvious, is that in a public school the teaching staff are required by law to meet certain educational requirements and to be certified. I strongly suspect that not all of faculty on the Bath and Woodstock campuses are thus credentialed. Perhaps I am wrong. Pahlease correct me if so. At the very least, while the public school faculty's attitude may or may not be relevant, without a certain threshold of aptitude, they will just not be allowed to teach. At the boarding schools, because they are private, they can get away with glossing over poor aptitude by focusing on so-called good attitude...

Maybe the Gauld clan will continue to open up charter schools, rip off the govt and then close down the boarding schools which are a farce anyway

Just in case those of you perusing this link don't check in on others, my name is Gary Eskow. I was a parent at Hyde for over a year, was in fact the chair person (or whatever they call it) in my region responsible for talking to potential new families. The account of my experience, THE JEKYLL SIDE OF HYDE, is on the ISAC site. I'll send it to anyone who wants it via e mail.
I'm a journalist and am in the process of assembling a list of people who want to talk about their experiences- positive and negative- at Hyde. Although I'd prefer on the record recollections, I am prepared to assure anonymity for those who need to talk in confidence.
If you'd like to see representative selections of my work you can visit my website, www.garyeskow.com.
