Aspen Education Group on the wikipedia
« on: December 30, 2006, 12:52:04 PM »
Well, I got started.

But I am far from finished.

It is hard to write something as "Neutral point of view", when it is about a sad thing. But it has to be done. Still children are sent outthere. The numbers of inmates in WWASP program is down, due to information about the abuse slipping out. The truth can not be stopped.

I believe that information, even as NPOV may rise an alarm-clock at some parents.

Some days ago it was Turnabout Ranch

As I stated before. I am far from finished. You may wonder why I have not linked a lot of times to this forum (only a few time). That is because the information has to be verifiable. So if someone wrote her experiences down and signed it or sent it to ISAC, I can use it.

So headlines it fine. Signed statements is fine. I hate so say it, but recorded deaths are also valid information. (It is sad that people first react when a corpse is lying there, that it how the world functions.)

Well, I have to read the book about Peninsula Village before I can put them on. Happy new year to you all!

Aspn Help Needed Urgently! Action Alert! - 2006/11/10 20:10  This is a repeat of posts on appropriate forums. Hope that's o.k.!

I am asking for urgently needed help from this community re: collecting testimony from former Aspn program participants. Aspn has not been focused on due to their sophisticated business mo. which has made them appear to be legitimate. In case you have any doubts, I have plenty of evidence to the contrary, and it goes beyond what they do at the programs. They are in the process of merging with a much larger co. and the financing is being done by one of the largest private equity firms, mormon connected through the Gov. of Mass. - Bain Ventures ($42 Billion in assets). This makes Aspn particularly vulnerable NOW and I've starting gathering a team of people familiar either with Aspn and/or legal/corporate issues related to strategize how to create an effective arsenal to wipe them out legally. It's clear that a combination of testimony which will have emotional impact along with the legal corporate issues can be effective, at the very least, to present to the California atty. general to investigate, now Jerry Brown!! (if you don't know him, he's a dream atty. gen. as a zen practitioner and former gov. of California, very smart and liberal). Aspn is incorporated in California.

I noticed that on the action alerts there was emphasis on states which Aspn, with some exceptions, doesn't operate in. The bulk of their programs are in Utah and Utah as a state player is by far, the most corrupt re: these programs. Their economy is so poor they need these programs desperately and its clear that Aspn as WWASPS did, has made their way through campaign donations and who knows what other under the table cash which they have plenty off.

So, I hope that Utah, Oregon, Montana and Arizona get added to the state list. I'm sure that the Montana issues been reported on here so I won't go into it and I can't remember if it was already on the list but Oregon and Arizona are lax in checking into programs that are registered as boarding schools not as RTCS or TBS's.

I'll be back momentarily to get my list of aspn programs to post again.

as of 11/06

1. Swift River Academy, Cummington, MA aka Academy @ Swift River
2. Academy of the Sierras, Reedley, CA

26. Stone Mountain School, Black Mountain, NC
27. Sunhawk Academy, St George, UT

30. Talisman Summer Camp, NC
31. Turn About Ranch, Escalante, UT
32. Wellspring Adventure Camps, NY
33. Youth Care, Inc., Salt Lake City, UT

HELP! If Aspn can be nailed, it puts every other bad program at serious risk (esp. PV which is in need of a fresh round of attack and is most similar to Aspn in terms of their corporate set up) and there's an opening right now if we can gather resources.

HG.

In January (1996), six youths enrolled in Utah's nationally praised Aspen Achievement Academy bolted from their camp in Garfield County after some teens allegedly beat a counselor. They stole a walkie-talkie, which they used to fool authorities into believing they had taken hostages. Deputies later found the youths, but Garfield County Attorney Wallace Lee subsequently determined there was not enough information or evidence to charge the teens with any crime.
The incident has raised concerns that future renegade youths from the Aspen Achievement Academy may assault tourists, hikers and recreationists who also frequent the public lands around Capitol Reef National Park.
"There have been some concerns expressed to us by folks who want to know what areas Aspen kids are using," says Gary Hall of the Bureau of Land Management. The BLM is now considering whether to renew the academy's permit to use public lands for the therapy and survival programs for at-risk teens. "They are now on a six-month permit that runs through June, so we are doing an environmental assessment on the program and presenting that to the public for comment."
