Brat Camp: Fifth Installment, Anasazi
« on: December 06, 2006, 12:56:55 PM »
How many times has it been suggested that parents attend wilderness programs with their kids? Critics speak, industry responds.

December 5, 2006

ANASAZI Foundation, a nonprofit outdoor behavioral healthcare provider focused on strengthening parent-child relationships, will serve as the backdrop for the fifth installment of Twenty Twenty Television's Brat Camp series. Tentatively titled "Family Camp," the UK production will follow four sets of British mothers and daughters who have agreed to be filmed as they participate in ANASAZI's nurturing wilderness-therapy program.
*Nurturing?

"All of us at ANASAZI are grateful for the opportunity to help these four families and work with Twenty Twenty's staff as they produce a television program we hope will help thousands more," said ANASAZI Foundation president Mike Merchant. "We have resisted such productions in the past, but we believe the new format, combined with Twenty Twenty's commitment to the families' best interests, has the potential to produce meaningful results. We're also hopeful that the ANASAZI Way philosophy will resonate, offering parents and children everywhere some new ideas to help things go right at home."
*New format?

Mothers and daughters in the Family Camp program will participate in a three-week wilderness experience based on ANASAZI's existing 42-day treatment programs. If at the completion of filming additional treatment is deemed necessary by parents and ANASAZI's clinical staff, Twenty Twenty will fund treatment for the daughters in ANASAZI's existing adolescent program.
*Why just three weeks? Mom's can't handle 42 days?  They'll water down the methods, make it look "nurturing", then put the kids in the 'real' program. How many won't need further 'treatment'. Any bets?

The UK version of Brat Camp, which is produced independently of the U.S. series by the same name, has received numerous awards, including an International Emmy in 2004.

Filming for season five will occur throughout December in an area separate from ANASAZI's ongoing programs for teens and young adults. Family Camp is scheduled to air on the UK's Channel Four network in early 2007.
*Hmmm. Why in a separate area?

Similar to how WWASPS parents take the seminars, and equate that to the harsh treatment and forced captivity their child goes through. Normally the high cost was enough to justify their sacrifice, aparently now they need to go camping for a few weeks to feel like better parents.  :-?

It raises the obvious question, wouldn't it be cheaper just to go camping with your kid and talk to them? It would be cheaper to hire a full time psychologist to go camping with you than it would be for this program.

If a parent think they need to spend three grand for some twenty something recent  college grad to teach them how to spark flint or what star is north with their kid, they are a few tacos short of a combination plate.

I am interested in whether this sordid little movement takes off in GB because it might be the acid tester for here. i live in hope that it will not. My prediction is that the school for fat kids has the best hope of succeeding in the UK and here as this can be marketed to parents as a medical necessity and it hits a point of pride as well as a fear, whereas the merits of some bootcamp are more debatable.

if a kid gets caught having sex or taking minor drugs it is just a part of growing up. Some more liberal parents take it as a given. But if your kid is morbidly fat there is the fear that people will see you as a bad person and forever shun your child. Or the reasonalbe possiblity that their health will be at risk in the long term. Thus a sense of panic. This is in some way more powerful that the fear of drugs because many parents tried at least something and secretly know it did not kill then, it is just a lie they feel abliged to tell the kids so that they can tick it off the list of things a parent should do. Who hasnt heard the eq of "your father only smoked tabacco through that"?

n case you\'re worried about what\'s going to become of the younger generation, it\'s going to grow up and start worrying about the younger generation.-Roger Allen

disgusting.

Yet not completely surprising. UK from what I am gathering is going to be the next big growth market for TBS programs.

We STILL don't need no education

fucking prophetic that song was.

Just when i thought it was safe to move back to europe.  Hopefully they keep out of France *ducks from tsw*

The key to making sure these things don't spread is to kill the infection where it starts.  AA should get on crushing that fat farm ASAP.  It needs to go down ugly so UK citizens can be shocked.

Abso-fucking-lutely!!!  I was looking for a reference the other day and went to one of my favorite sites.... http://www.orange-papers.org/  and he's been suspended......again!!  He's got the most prolific, well researched and documented site about the cult of AA.  He used to be on Yahoo and AOL and got kicked off there, now I see this account is gone.  It's a shame.  You can still find cached pages though if you know what you're looking for.

Something tells me, I'm not sure what, that if someone tried this bullshit in France, two things would happen immediately.

1. The 'immigrant' kids there would end up in them
2. You-know-what would blow them sky fucking high

And, if they follow the whole capitalistic approach vs the socialist approach you would expect in france?

1. French kids get put in them
2. Someone godwins, very, very quickly, becuase europe learned its fucking lesson...
3. More violent protests, except by the more fair skinned frenchies.

I don't necessarily disagree, the communists didn't mind AA at all, but AA's "children" are far worse. (Synanon, and all of it's spawn)
