was Nick the staff member from 73 on sr84
with the premature salt and pepper hair and the glacoma looking eyes. he was in his late twenties but looked years older. he was a major junkie from  new york, what happened to him., also i remember a staff member from 71 to 72 with reddish hair about 24 years old
, she also had a very young daugter about 2 year old i think her name was Maurene. I had a major crush on her when i was 16 or 17
I also remember Billy the midget, what a big ego he had.

Nick and John both claimed to be ex junkies. Nick had a heavy new york accent and was the one who inferred that some of these techniques came from another place in new york.

Yep, I remember him...

I was a punk kid and he just told me reality. I got deaf, dumb, blind, sweated like a pig and then almost fell over and passed out, but when he was finished, I sat down and felt cleansed of some demons. You remember that don't you Greg? :nworthy:

You know I gotta apologize for being thick headed, but I just don't understand what you mean  here. Am I supposed to remember you being "come down on" specifically or just remember getting my own ass chewed and humiliated? If I knew who you were maybe I would remember better.

Help me here..what am I supposed to know and why are you so damn cryptic? Email me and tell me who you are and maybe the 30 year old memory will come back...

Well, it's like this Greg.........I've got one drug dealer nephew in the graveyard. I have another nephew who is HIV positive and in Prison and I've got a mentally ill neice that is about to get locked up for a long time in a mental hospital without a clue whatsoever. All because of drugs. :smokin:

Well that is really tragic for your family and you have my sympathy. My famiy has also been besett by tradegy over the years and some of it was due to substance abuse by various members.

As we speak my mother is dying due to an addictioncompulsion to cigarrettes. My neice has done time largely due to a problem with Crack. And apparently you know about my siblings/step siblings, at least you infer you know who I am.

So whoever you are...nice to hear from you again and welcome to the SDF.

BTW, are you aware of the extreme numbers of kids that went thru the Seed and various other thought reform programs that return to drug use, oftentimes at much higher rates and with additional problems? Did it happen to you?

Of course it happened but I was shunned by other Seedlings for some kind of music hobby. I studied at school and college later on. I was able to quit smoking in the Seed. But basically right now my nerves are shot. Tobacco is still legal today. Nicotine is not addictive. When I dedcide to quit I will. There's way too much chaos in my family right now and with my bad smoking habit to avoid it. I don't do illicit substance abuse.

Well you say "of course it happened" and you were "shunned" by the Seedlings.

Yet looking back some 30 years you seem to approve of being yelled and screamed at by Nick.

Listen, I agree with you that using street drugs is way less than wise. We are on the same page.

What I don't understand is how you have processed your experience at the Seed.  Good? Bad? Horrible? Wonderfull?  Cult or innocent Rehab?

Do me a little favor...think a bit about it and post your thoughts here. I am so interested in what you and others think now.

And my friend, whether Nicotene is addictive or not is debatable...but far worse is that cigarrettes smokers are somehow compulsively drawn to repetetively smoke them at very dangerous levels. What is interesting to me is most pipe smokers and cigar smokers do not have this compulsion. Something about the way cigarrettes deliver the substances to your bloodstream speaks to compulsives, similar in a way I believe that the needle becomes more addictive to addicts than heroin and the crackpipe causes compulsive behavior in cocaine users.

Cigarrettes are far more dangerous than marijuana in my opinion, and I don't smoke either.  If you could see right now what cigarrettes have done to my mother and then see how she cannot stop even as facing certain death, you would understand better.

Illicit is a label society has placed on certain drugs. Some of the most dangerous drugs are legal while some of the most benign are "illicit".
