I was wondering if you knew of my high school/college boyfriend who attended the Dallas Straight in the mid 80's.  His name was Jeffrey Spearman and I just recently found out that he passed away nearly seven years ago, atage 27.  (Actually just days before he would have turned 28).  Any information would be appreciated.  He first attended the Orlando Straight and then went to work on the staff at the Dallas Straight.  Please email me at: [email protected]

So whats your name Anon? If you dont mind me asking.  I am really interested in talking to people from the Dallas program because I really havent seen or heard from anyone who spent time there when I did.  One person really.  And thats John who just posted.  Most everyone here is from the Florida and Atlanta programs, and usually from earlier time periods (the 80's) as well.  You may or may not remeber me, form the sound of it you might have come in very near to when I copped out.

Hi. Kelly Williams here. I was there in '89 or '90. I was 12 and my sister Denise was there, too. I actually just found this website yesterday.

I remember you, Chad. Didn't Texas Monthly feature you in an article about Straight?

I think I remember Carmel. Nice tan...dark, curly hair?

And Leslie Marie...light skin, short hair, very kind?

Here's my update. I'm doing well in spite of Straight. Up until college, my happiness was questionable. But somehow things worked out and now I love my job as an advertising copywriter, I have a great group of friends and a wonderful boyfriend.

Yes I remember you, you were only 12!  Wow, its been so long.

I am so glad that you are doing well, how is Denise?  She was my oldcomer along with Marla Bradham for a VERY longtime.  

I suppose I had a good tan, until of course it faded from being in that bulding day in and day out!  I ran away from Straight about a month after the California people came.  

I am now married and have one 5 year old, and one baby boy on the way.  I am due in January.  Leslie Marie is now living in Norway, she is a birthing assistant.  We communicate off and on, she has just recently begun posting at the Yahoo site again.

I remember staying with you and Denise one weekend at your host home, I guess it was called an "out of town" host home....and we all sat near your back porch door and watched the fireflies outside.  That was one of the better memories I have from there.  

Do you still keep in touch with anyone else from the Program?

Texas Monthly did do a feature on STRAIGHT Dallas.  I may post the OCR version soon to my site at kidsofelpaso.com in the links section.

I am curious if there was a STRAIGHT in both Irving and Richardson, TX. or if there was just a location in Irving and what the dates of operation were.  Also I am curious if anyone has the physical address(es) so I can take and post some updated pics of the building(s) as they are currently.

Any info is appreciated.

FYI, I checked out your Timeline section on your site, and I didnt know if you knew but after California Straight closed down around half of their kids were transfered to us in Dallas. Sometime in August-September of 1990 maybe a little later.
