To me, the real benefit of Fornit's are the posts where former program prisoners share their experiences. The larger the database of such accounts and having these show up on Google searches, the better chance researching parents will come across this information and think twice before calling for the escorts.

Informing and educating the public is the only way to change the culture's thinking and create public pressure to change policy and law. To accomplish this, a certain critical mass is required.

Advocates help, but not when they are busy fighting among themselves and are so few in number that program supporters and politicians can dismiss them as crackpots. What is needed is leadership, expertise, and numbers. I thought the symposium (or whatever it was called) in Washington DC with ASTART were a good start, not perfect, but a good start.

I think this is very true.  I wish I had found this site prior to my daughter's placement.  My only resource at the time was ST.  With that said ....

The benefit would be even greater if parents were met with a little less hostility.  As I have stated over and over, the tone here is enough to make most parents tuck their tail and run in another direction.  And most run straight back to ST.

What people here have to share is VERY valuable.  But, other searching parents would better hear the message if it weren't coated in so much anger and angst.

Thank you "Truth Searcher" , a point I have been trying to get across myself (unsuccessfully),  all the value this site has to offer is lost because of those with inflated egos who chase people away with their anger and hostility if you do not agree with them and I agree that ST does get their ear after that.

TSW you may be tired of the P.U.R.E. talk, but the recent discussion of the Scheff/PURE--Isabelle/CAICA--Paula Reeves connection is not "old news."
CAICA is a relatively "new" so-called advocate website.
Paula Reeves's website is BRAND new.
Having two so-called advocates, Izzy and Paula taking over the CAFETY website, as if it were their own is rather interesting, and somewhat disturbing.  

So, if you are tired of this discussion, just skip over it. Because, people should be concerned when children are being referred to abusive facilities by the woman these TWO support, and THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

If you have no interest, then don't read, OK?
But so-called-advocates popping up, and supporting PURE on various websites that discuss abusive programs is of concern to many.
