Re: Tax-deductible donations to the chapel fund:

?.. As most of you are aware, another area of student life and growth we feel is crucially important is the spiritual development of our students. As part of our Spiritual Reflections program, all students participate in both on and off campus spiritual activities on a weekly basis. these special times encourage students to grow in their individual faiths as they are nurtured into maturity. We also place strong emphasis on the spiritual principles contained within the Twelve Steps for students dealing with substance-abuse issues. The recent events in New York and Washington have reinforced our already strong belief in the need for increased spiritual development in the young people of our nation and world.
We have undertaken the task of building a chapel on our campus, which will symbolize the importance of faith, worship, and reverence. This chapel will be used by all faiths on our campus. The priest, rabbi, and ministers who work with our students are all very supportive and excited that we are building this house of worship. The chapel will also e used for graduations, student assembles, and other appropriate events.
Over the past several months many of you have contributed to our Chapel Fund. The Fund recently reached the $300,000 mark. The total cost will be $1,500,000. the final plans for the building have been approved, we have sent out requests for bids, and with your continued support construction is slated to begin in March of next year.
As this year nears its end, we should reflect on the recent events we have witnessed in our world. Through the fear and losses, most, if not all of us have turned to our faith to help guide us. This is what we wish to instill in our students. We hope that you will consider how your family can make a tax-deductible contribution to the HLA Chapel Fund. Your willingness to share your resources really will make a difference in the lives of many.
