" I live in the present and not the past or the future."

Actually we all "live" in the present, at this point and time technology can't transport us backward or forward.

To live only in the present, IMHO is like living in denial.  History repeats itself, time and time again, we need to learn from our past, to cope with the present, in order to change the future, that makes a complete person.
To forget the past and not worry about the future is just going to leave you with a lot of therapy bills and sooner or later, you will be in another cult that promises you "peace and tranquility".

Yes, prescience and extrapolation are actually not bad habits.

Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar.

I know this is an old link but does this sound a little like the Seed? (with a little Russian sadism of course).

I'm glad some people have that faith. I don't have that faith. If there is a God, a caring God, then we have to figure he's done an extraordinary job of making a very cruel world.

Yes Jupiter, you are indeed right. I did not say I have forgotton my past or did not care about the future but I do live in the moment. I have forgiven all of those people that have hurt me in the past and that includes myself. I certainly have made many mistakes in the past and that is also how I learn about myself. If I touch a hot stove, I do remember it and know not to keep touching it. I do not worry about the future but know as long as I take care of the moment, the future will take care of itself. Of course I make decisions at the moment that will effect the future.

Kind Regards,

Chuck

No, that sounds more like SIBS
