some simple actions to take
« on: September 16, 2005, 01:03:00 AM »
As many of you may already know, there has been a bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressman George Miller of California, entitled the End Institutionalized Abuse Against Children Act of 2005 (HR 1738).

I think it's an excellent start; it basically gives the attorneys general of each state a mandate to investigate the practices of both domestic and foreign-based residential treatment institutions "to assure the welfare and safety of American children."

Some of the people who helped author the language of the bill were disillusioned Teen Help parents, who realized that their kids had been abused.

You can read the bill here:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:H.R.1738.IH:

You can sign a petition to support the bill here:

http://www.petitiononline.com/hr1738/petition.html

But personal letters are far more effective than signatures on a petition. The main people to write to would be Rep. Miller, thanking him for introducing the bill and stating your support; Rep. John Boehner, who chairs the Committee on Education and the Workforce; and Rep. Henry Hyde, who chairs the Committee on International Relations. (The bill has been referred to both of these committees.)

Following are some template letters; please feel free to copy them. I'm also including each Congressman's mailing address.

***

The Honorable George Miller
2205 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Congressman Miller,

I am writing to thank you for your sponsorship of HR 1738, the End Institutionalized Abuse Against Children Act of 2005, and to express my strong support for this bill.

I am a survivor of a program called ______, which employed coercive thought reform techniques. Coercive behavior modification is nothing but abuse and brainwashing. My experience was traumatic. I would like to see such abuses end. I think if American parents truly understood what such programs entail, they would be much less likely to turn their children over to the abusers.

I see HR 1738 as a good start toward reining in these programs, and raising public awareness about them. I enthusiastically support HR 1738. Thank you for your work with this bill and this important, under-publicized issue.

Sincerely,

***

The Honorable Henry Hyde
2110 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Congressman Hyde,

I am writing to urge you to schedule hearings on HR 1738, the End Institutionalized Abuse Against Children Act of 2005, and to express my strong support for this bill. Because many of the residential behavior modification programs for teens are situated in foreign countries, though they are administered by U.S.-based entities, I believe this issue falls under the jurisdiction of your committee.

So what's the status of the Bill? Last I heard it was still being considered in a couple of committees and hadn't been even approved to go to a vote. Anybody know where it's at now?

Here is the status of the current of the bill:
newsflash says that the bill is
"just a bill yes it's only a bill,
sitting there on Capitol Hill,
it's a long long journey to the Capitol city,
a long long wait while it's sitting in committee,
but I know it'll be a law someday
at least I hope and pray that it will,
but today its still just a bill".

I got an old Subway Restaurant stamp of Bill. It's the only collectable I keep besides some Millenium Falcon bullshit, some legos, some video games, some other shit, some books of lore (LoTR), some chewing gum, some baseball cards, some other shit, and some other shit, too. Lotsa junk.

I'll take that bill the Sen. o' Cali wants to pass now please. I can use it for my restroom break where it will end up. Unfortunately we all know this and its not too soon to remember that our country is one of the few remaining who openly deny ratifying UNICEF's child rights amendments. duh.

Fedrull laws issues? Shit niggur, we'ra makin too much goddamd money from torturin chilluns, we is! If we allow children to have equalle rights we'll start warring with everyone else pretty soon hea. We gave them fukkin wemmens ther gedamd eekwull raights back a few yars ago, befur thet we give them thar gedamd Niggers ther freedums. We gave em all that un now jus' look at the divorce an' the unhappy white boiz, the pussy and the cotton (n hemp) dun gon' n dried up cos' we let 'em have ther freedom and we let 'em go on 'n get tired of bein objectified god dammut.

We aint' bout ta give no fekkin lil rugratts ther freddums too, are we!?!?!? Hoofin it, fukk you. Shat, we go givven hooligan urchins ther freedoms too, who we gon segregate then?!? Ar pets?!? Fukkinshatniggurpissniggerwarfightassscrewbucketso'scrubbinbubblesnglovesfullo'scum.

Give cheap beers to people coming out of AA meetings.

Take and throw away pamphlets promoting or giving meeting times or phone numbers for AA or NA.

Go to meetings and laugh at people, say "How ridiculous" after they read each step.

Look for newcomers, tell them they are in the wrong place.  Plant seeds of doubt in their minds.

Talk about good times you had on drugs to people outside of NA or AA meetings.  Tell them it is possible to use drugs and escape a horrible fate.

Put LSD in the coffee at NA or AA meetings.

Put Kahlua or Scotch in the coffee at AA meetings.

Make pot brownies and put them out next to the coffee at an NA meeting.

Tell people at meetings that they can exchange their chips for free drinks at a local bar (better still, find a bartender that will agree to do this).

At the part of the meeting where they ask if anyone has any announcements "for the good of NA", tell them "Yeah--scientific research has recently proven that no one is powerless over drugs and that NA has been shown to be harmful, so leave and don't come back"

Tell people that "Satan (or the Flying Spaghetti Monster) is your higher power, and that he told you it's OK to get high or drink.

Bring hot looking sluts to the meetings.  Have them offer sexual favors to any Stepcultist that will do a shot of tequila (if AA) or bong hit/line of coke (if NA).

Always mention the names of specific drugs as many times as possible, describe them as "great", bitch about being court-ordered, offer to sign attendance slips, ridicule the Stepcult and it's adherents frequently.

Do whatever it takes to stop the Stepcult and it's abusive institutions.  The mind you save may be your own......
