THIS POST IS FOR LOUIS K. AND OTHER PARRENTS THAT HAVE CHILDREN IN PROGRAMS LIKE SPRING CREEK.
MY NAME IS RICHARD LIN. IF YOU ARE CURIOUS ENOUGH, YOU CAN LOOK INTO IT AND YOU WILL SEE THAT I WAS IN THE WESTERN SAMOA PROGRAM, PARADISE COVE, FROM 01/1998 TO 12/1999. I HAVE EXPIERENCED EVERYTHING THESE PROGRAMS CAN DISH OUT AND SOME. AFTER I GRADUATED FROM PARADISE COVE, I WENT DIRECTALLY INTO ANOTHER PROGRAM IN ARIZONA. FOUR YEARS OF MY LIFE WENT BY WITHOUT ME. MY LIFE IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK NOW. I HAVE AN EXCELLENT RELATIONSHIP WITH MY MOTHER (I NEVER KNEW MY FATHER), I WENT TO COLLEGE AT ASU, WAS EXTREEMLY INVOLVED AT MY UNIVERSITY AND SERVED AS VP OF MY FRATERNITY. NOW IM 22 AND MOVING ON WITH MY LIFE. MY LIFE WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT ALWAYS AS SMOOTH RUNNING AS IT IS NOW. I WAS A SEVERE DRUG ADDICT FOR TWO YEARS AFTER THE PROGRAM (X, COCAINE, HEROIN). I CLEANED MYSELF UP ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO, COLD TURKEY. BUT IM NOT WRITING THIS SO YOU CAN BE PROUD OF ME OR TELL ME HOW GREAT I DID, IM WANT TO LET YOU KNOW I KNOW THAT AS PARRENTS, YOU MUST FEEL JUSTIFIED IN WHAT YOU HAVE DONE. KIDS ARE BAD (FOR A LACK OF A BETTER ADJ.) SOMETIMES DOWN RIGHT MONSTEROUS, BUT... WHAT OCCURS IN THESE PROGRAMS IS SO HORRIBLE THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE IT...ITS LIKE TRYING TO PUT WORDS ON THE FEELING OF BEING HEART BROKEN. BUT THATS NOT THE WORST PART OF IT...YOU ARE NOT ONLY HEARTBROKEN THERE BUT THERE IS A SENCE OF HOPELESSNESS AND THATS JUST ON THE EMOTIONAL SIDE. AT MY PROGRAM ENDLESS PHYSICAL ABUSE WAS DEALT OUT WITH A SECOND THOUGHT. IVE HEARD MANY OF THE ACCUSATIONS MADE BY FORMER STUDENTS AT PARADISE COVE WAVED OFF AS LIES AND NOTHING GETS ME HOTTER. IT IS THE TRUTH!
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED IS THAT THE ONLY REASON TO KEEP YOUR CHILD IN ONE OF THESE PROGRAMS IS TO BUY TIME. YOUR KID WILL EVENTUALLY GROW UP, IF SHE WANTS TO AND NO AMNOUNT OF BARBARIC BEATINGS AND FOOD/SLEEP DEPRIVATION WILL CONVINCE THEM THAT THEY SHOULD. JUST KNOW THAT THE PRICE YOU PAY IN THIS TRADE IS THAT YOU ARE ENABLING THESE PROGRAMS TO CAUSE THIS IRREPAREABLE DAMAGE TO THIER PSYCHE. I WILL ADVISE YOU TO PULL YOU DAUGHTER OUT OF THIS PROGRAM. THIS IS NOT A LAST STEP PROGRAM...THIS IS PUSHING YOU CHILD INTO THE CENTER OF THE MOST CRUEL FORM OF CHILD ABUSE. THESE PROGRAMS ARE WHAT I IMAGINE INTERNMENT CAMPS TO HAVE BEEN LIKE (NOT AMERICAN ONES). THESE PROGRAM DICTATORS ARE MODERN DAY HITLERS THRIVING ON THE POWER OF DESTROYING THE INDIVIDUAL AND TURNING US (THE CHILDREN OF TOMORROW) INTO THE ZOMBIE PRESENT OF SILENT SUFFERING. PARADISE COVE IS THE SHOW ROOM BUCK HEAD ON WHICH I COMPAIR ALL SUFFERING I HAVE ENDURED SINCE. I HAVE A STRONG FEELING IT WILL BE THE STANDARD OF ALL SUFFERING TO COME. My name is richard lin. If you are curious enough, you can look into it and you will see that i was in the western samoa program, paradise cove, from 01/1998 to 12/1999. I have expierenced everything these programs can dish out and some. After i graduated from paradise cove, i went directally into another program in arizona. Four years of my life went by without me. My life is on the right track now. I have an excellent relationship with my mother (i never knew my father), i went to college at asu, was extreemly involved at my university and served as vp of my fraternity. Now im 22 and moving on with my life. My life was obviously not always as smooth running as it is now. I was a severe drug addict for two years after the program (x, cocaine, heroin). I cleaned myself up about two years ago, cold turkey. But im not writing this so you can be proud of me or tell me how great i did, im want to let you know i know that as parrents, you must feel justified in what you have done. Kids are bad (for a lack of a better adj.) Sometimes down right monsterous, but... what occurs in these programs is so horrible there are no words to describe it...its like trying to put words on the feeling of being heart broken. But thats not the worst part of it...you are not only heartbroken there but there is a sence of hopelessness and thats just on the emotional side. At my program endless physical abuse was dealt out with a second thought. Ive heard many of the accusations made by former students at paradise cove waved off as lies and nothing gets me hotter. It is the truth!
What i have learned is that the only reason to keep your child in one of these programs is to buy time. Your kid will eventually grow up, if she wants to and no amnount of barbaric beatings and food/sleep deprivation will convince them that they should. Just know that the price you pay in this trade is that you are enabling these programs to cause this irrepareable damage to thier psyche. I will advise you to pull you daughter out of this program. This is not a last step program...this is pushing you child into the center of the most cruel form of child abuse. These programs are what i imagine internment camps to have been like (not american ones). These program dictators are modern day hitlers thriving on the power of destroying the individual and turning us (the children of tomorrow) into the zombie present of silent suffering. Paradise cove is the show room buck head on which i compair all suffering i have endured since. I have a strong feeling it will be the standard of all suffering to come.
