Fornits T-Shirts?

Well guys? is there a fornits T-shirt? Maybe some one should make one up. Just batting ideas around here. We are a rather large orginization (if we can be called that. maybe 'group of people' would be better) and I think a t-shirt would be cool.

Thats cool. I was thinking something more like a black t-shirt. On the front we have the fornits logo the one in the top left hand corner. On orange, and on the back.

"Where america's shit hits the fan."
or
"Guess who is in prison."
or
"Whats america's dirty little secret, find out at fornits."

I'd suggest what used to run up in the top right hand block.
Goes something like:

Heres freedom to him who would read
Heres freedom to he who would write.
None ever feared that the truth should be heard
except him who the truth would indite.

Something along those lines.

Not to be a buzz kill or anything, but it takes capital to do something like this. I once toyed with the idea of trying to fund the making of some t-shirts and coffee mugs ext - and it requires a good deal of start up capital.

Well I was just thinking having it custom made. ::shrugs:: im not really thinking something that would be uniformly given out, unless some one wants to do that.

I had the impression this was to be a fund raising thing -
Guess I'm not clear on what exactly it is you have in mind - but what ever it is, I hope you get it to fly

I've seen plenty of Chinese and black families have t-shirts made for their trips to Disneyland. Ever notice those groups of 40 people with the same t-shirt on, and it usually says something like 'Johnson family disneyland vacation 1986'?

You could never get me to wear one of those.

I've thought about doing something like that w/ Cafe Press. But I really doubt anybody would buy them. Here's one that a friend made up. I have one. Everybody but the proper old ladies seem to like it when I wear it.

Ah but Ginger - the proper old ladies have no idea what its all about! Many might not mind so much if they knew. But once they've been offended you aren't likely to get them to listen.
So - a less "up yours" appraoch might also be worth considering. . .

I was thinking a saying, something that could advertise the site and still be whitty and shit. I dont know, it might be cheaper than a large picture.

Well, whatever you come up with is fine. If you make a bundle, do us a favore and send some to support the cause. If not, ok well that's fine too.

Ginger, what if you have a prototype T shirt made up and post its picture on the web and then outsource the job to a vendor as you sell them?

You could cover cost of production AND a little extra for the cause.

Well, I could do something like Cafe Press. And I've thought about it a few times. But that would raise some issues I don't really want to deal w/ if I can help it.

First, say the shirts (mugs, mouse pads, thongs, etc) are wildly popular and the cash starts pouring in. Where do I put it? Can I keep it and call it an offset to the time and money that's already gone into the forum? Should I hand it all over to some worthy organization? Would that create jealousy? Is there anything I could do that wouldn't piss somebody off? Probably not.

More than likely, though, only a few shirts would sell. I actually did set up a cafe press page w/, I think, Leslie's design on one side and "Have you seen Jerry Vancil" on the other. Nobody bought any. And Leslie had a few designs up on a stand alone page. I think she sold two that way. Doubt she even broke even. I lost a little, as one of those two orders had an error, which was my fault, so I ate it.

So, here's my thinking on it now. If anybody wants to get into the tshirt business, feel free to advertise anything relavent (just don't push it to the point of annoying reasonable people) And, if you turn a buck and want to toss a buck or two my way, far be it from me to object. But I'd just as soon leave it alone for now.

Talk about it and let the truth find its own way.

Now Ginger - when did this ever stop you from doing just as you please?

As for the shirt idea - I wouldn't buy a giant finger flip off - but if you made one with your forum logo - as seen up there to the left - That I would buy - as long as the price was reasonable.

As for how to manage contributions of the profit - why not do as some companies do - promise ten percent of the profit to go to the organization of the buyers choice - with several appropriate choices given?

Not really trying to talk you into anything, ya know - just tossing around ideas.
