Med Call?
« on: June 30, 2005, 07:22:00 AM »
refresh my memory, what did they did for us when we were sick? I remember tiny little paper cups with liquid but not sure what it was for but we took it quite alot. There was med call, but i dont know who all went down for it, i cant remember alot about our health issues for some reason. Maybe someone could shed some light.
During my stay at Rebekah I never saw a nurse or a doctor.

I had a bad sore throat once.begged to go a Dr.They stuck a yucky long Q tip with iodine and swabbed my throat.I'd swear it had to have glass it hurt so much.
One other time I don't know WHAT I went for.....but they had me drink castor oil& it was very yucky.
And one time...got this new girl in our room& she had gonarea& she was on meds for it before comeing, but they said God would heal her& she didn't need meds.I didn't want what she had...so accumliated enough demrits to go to the hole. When got out they seperated me and Kim so I got a new room.
I also remember was a girl with epilcy.I rember her haveing a sezuire durring lunch& shortly later she went home.

I must have got lucky somehow.cause I have asthma& I don't EVER recall useing my inhaler while there.I do rember one time when going to the store out there& getting some Whorehounds drops?its a candy, but helps with cough.Mrs yodder took us& was the only time I was allowed to bring anything back.
oh yeah...the flu bug....they passed out onions to set in a dish in all the rooms.

When I went in I brought prescription medication for migrains plus an inhaler for Asthma.  I got my meds. whenever I needed them.

Then the first thing that happened I got very ill after my first 2 weeks there. I was waiting on the stairs by the front door for Ms.Nurse one morning, I had a temp. of 104.

They took me to the doctor,I had the flu, a really bad ear infection, ruptured ear drums, God I was so sick, spent 2 nights in the hospital. I remember getting to talk to my parents as long as I wanted, and I had a TV but was to sick to care. Ms.Cameron stayed the first night, Ms.Nurse the second.

I spent 3 weeks in the sick room. Ms.Cameron brought me books to read, she brought Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, Black Beauty. I loved those stories and it helped the time go by. She would come and talk to me, brought me and the other girls fresh squeezed OJ, nice and cold, it was so yummy. When I was feeling better I was alone in the room so she let me bring my blanket & pillow into her office and help read mail, so I did that and usually fell asleep. LOL

I had many times I needed my inhaler and was never denied it.

I did hate that crap in a jar they used for sore throats, lemon juice, cayenne pepper and I am sure other gross stuff GAG!!!  Hate to admit it though, it helped.  :silly:
