The death of a young boy at a wilderness camp has been ruled a homicide. Travis Parker, 13, died at a camp for troubled youngsters in White County in April.

State records show workers restrained parker for an hour-and-a-half after he apparently acted up.

Parker suffers from asthma and asked for his inhaler while being restrained. Counselors refused to give it to him because an EMT saw no signs of an asthma attack.

White County District Attorney Stan Gunter told 11Alive News the restraint led to Parker?s death, according to the autopsy. The boy?s heart stopped and not enough oxygen was getting to his brain, the autopsy revealed.

Gunter is now reviewing the case and is deciding whether to pursue criminal charges.

Since Parker died, five camp counselors have resigned.
