Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Former staff forgivable??

I'm ashamed to say I went on staff partly as a way to escape the hell of being a phaser more quickly. I was recruited and very afraid to say no, as well. I quickly learned it wasn't better, only a little different. The humiliation, abuse, fear, etc, happened in the staff offices then I had to go out and pretend to have it together OR ELSE. I used to get confronted by senior staff constantly for not being tough enough, confronting people, etc. I just wasnt' good at that stuff. I got put in straight at age 13 and abandoned there by my parents, who left the country. I'm not sure, but possibly being one of the youngest there had some significance, I dunno. It was hell from start to finish and everything I did was out of fear.

Just wanted to say goodbye to anyone who knows me around here. I can't look at these message boards anymore, it's too upsetting, I've ended up in hospital several times recently partly due to PTSD from Straight, and it is exacerbated by too much exposure to forums such as these.
Thank you very much to those who have supported me and tried to help, and I hope you will stay in touch privately.
I have tremendous respect for those who are working to shut these places down, and I hope someday I will have the strength to face my feelings more fully, and help. I'm ashamed and guilty not to be able to do anything, I feel as if I'm running away, but I don't know what else to do, I'm going to kill myself if I continue to think about this stuff.

What a load of rubbish. So some adults in Arizona who have comitted felonies suffer harsh conditions for a set amount of time (whatever their sentence might be), therefore it is ok to violate the human rights of children, who may or may not have violated YOUR standards of behavior, whatever they might be, and to do so for an indefinite amount of time? Interesting.

You all must be really sick of me by now--hell I'm sick of myself! just when I think there arent' any tears left I cry some more till I puke again. It's just overwhelming thinking it's a losing battle, that there are always going to be some people being tortured needlessly.

As a percentage of teenagers, say from 13 to 18, how many are being put in these places? I have been getting suicidally depressed thinking about all this and need to know there are some kids NOT being subjected to this. Someone give me some good news!
It's kinda like my ex. She worked with premature infants, crack babies and the like. She would go visit the healthy ones at the end of her shift so as not to be so depressed, and remember that most were healthy...
Did that make any sense?

Boy, THAT was circular logic if I ever heard it! Try to convince yourself all you want, but if you put your kid in one of those places you are guilty of child abuse.

I did, and I am. It is truly something to weep about. When this type of child abuse is outlawed in Mexico and Costa Rica, why not send them to North Korea or perhaps Syria? I'm sure they would be more than willing to whip them in to shape there too, where the ends justify any and all means, including kidnapping and torture.
