The Troubled Teen Industry / They have hit a new low!!!!! 6-12
« on: December 21, 2007, 10:44:12 PM »
My boys are 7 and 9 years old. If you think for one skinny second that I would EVER consider sending them off to be abused in the name of "treatment" you have got to be out of your freakin skull!!! And I dare anyone ever try to tell me that I should.  :flame:

And really, what could a child that young do to make a parent even think of sending their baby off? It was bad enough being 14 and being sent off, I could not imagine what I would have become if I was all of 7 and got sent away from my home, family, school, siblings, etc...

Look at the sattelite image, go down Hidden Lake Rd past the main buildings, you will see a place where the forest is cleared behind the lake and it looks like there are some buildings or homes there. Are they a part of HLA too? Or are they privately owned?

The Who needs to give it a rest.
Simple ask ANYONE if they assume, think, believe, "have-the-idea-that" a person who holds the "job of a counselor" PROBABLY HAS A COLLEGE DEGREE..and their answer would be: "Yes, a counselor has a college degree."
Most thinking people would BELIEVE that this counselor   would PROBABLY have a GRADUATE DEGREE; at least a Masters Degree in Psychology.  Few people would expect a counselor to only have a high school education (or less), Mr. Who.

WOW I just had a weird idea. Since there is no formal education requirement to be one of these said "counselors", wonder if just any Joe off of the street can apply for and be hired for the job of "counselor"??? And if they can, I am wondering how easy would it be to destroy these places from the inside....hmmmmmmm

ok, I know this is REALLY far out there, but if the above is true, think about the damage that could potentially be done to these places if there was a way to get in legitimately. 8-)

I was there a few weeks ago and it didn't look like they had that many students (by the looks of all the empty rooms). You can drive into the property and when you get to the admissions building, make a right and you will be driving along the dorms. You can see right into the windows, most of which have open blinds because the rooms are vacant. But beware, there is no way out that way, you have to make a u-turn to get out. So don't do anything stupid on your way in if you go.
I remember seeing all of the townhouses on the right and the gravel/rock road on the left. But it looked like it belonged on the HLA property. Anyway, I will try to find out who owns that property, I am pretty close to Lumpkin County.

Also, if Hidden Lake Rd. is owned by the county and not HLA, (take a look at the link below) what are these buildings behind HLA and are they owned by HLA or privately owned. There is a possibility that there is more than one property owner that may be open to us coming out there.
Take a look at this aerial view of the property.

I would love to join ya, but the anon poster above is right. The entrance drive to the main building is about a mile. There is no way in hell that anyone on that campus will see you.

Rent the Goodyear Blimp??? lol sorry.

as well as all of the talk shows (ie: Dr. Phil, Oprah, etc...) and gain their interest, you may well make a hell of an impact if it actually goes national.

Just my $.02

Dr. Phil and Oprah send kids to programs.

Exactly why you should contact them and let them know what it's like "on the other side". They need to hear our voices and know that we were not helped by their programs. ALSO, it would help other parents hear us as well.

Like I said, just a thought.

I hear ya, but they just don't give a shit.  Hell, there's a thread right now about Dr. Phil and Pathways

http://wwf.fornits.com/viewtopic.php?t=24516

Yeah, I read that, sad sack of shit that he is. Anyway, I digress...
like I said, even if they are for programs, have they actually taken the time (like Montel) to sit down and talk to people 10, 20, even 30 years after they were in the program to see how it impacted their lives, good or bad? I think that they may be interested in the protests, could be good for ratings ya know?

I would think that protesting does make a difference no matter how many are doing the protesting. As long as the kids that are inside the building know that you are there and that you are fighting for their rights, you will make a difference.

I also would think that if you call all of the media outlets that you can think of as well as all of the talk shows (ie: Dr. Phil, Oprah, etc...) and gain their interest, you may well make a hell of an impact if it actually goes national.
