They even took away college loans for drug felons deeming them "waste of $" but my case falls before that law...

how very sad that people such as yourself, for doing things that were hurting no one else, and none of the government damn business, are living inside concrete boxes right now. it is so wrong.

I believe everyone should be given a second chance. Especially for things that don't hurt others or are misdemeanors and stuff. It's insane how intense all the background checks and credit checks are getting nowadays... Seems very capitalistic and competitive to me. Not much room for being a real person IMO.

I do know one guy who has a felony, and he got a degree in computer programming. He's had a lot of computer jobs, but he doesn't tell them about it and then he tries to make a good impression before they find out. It seems like they usually have decided to just keep him. They use that stuff to weed people out, I say don't let them know until they get to know you a little. It's sad that's how it is though.

If life were fair, W would be making a living saying "You want fries w/ that?"

You reap what you sow if you're a lonely farmer working a pristine field. Otherwise, you eat shit in some form or fashion that's generated by the people around you.

This is a perfect example of that! In a sane world, we'd reserve our prison space for people we're afraid of, not people we're mad at. 4 years in a cage is a monsterous response to the non-crime of posession of certain unpatentable substances.

Religion is based . . . mainly on fear . . . fear of the mysterious, fear of defeat, fear of death. Fear is the parent of cruelty, and therefore it is no wonder if cruelty and religion have gone hand in hand. . . . My own view on religion is that of Lucretius. I regard it as a disease born of fear and as a source of untold misery to the human race.

Linch, Don't fret. I spent 5 years in the FL state prison system, got out, moved to NY. From my due diligence, I've worked as a project manager for Merrill Lynch, IBM, and AT&T. ML, I skated around the background check, I was a contractor, they told me to report to the fingerprinting place and I said, OK be there in 1 hour, never showed up and it fell off the radar with them(Luck). AT&T never checked, and IBM only ran a check for 7 years. I currently work as a program manager for a networking company handling financial clients and they only looked back 7 years, for which I said NOPE nothing in the past 7 years. I NEVER told  any of them, the best bet is the previous advice, get in, prove yourself and then if you feel froggy, leap and tell them about it. I have in the past, confided in my previouc managers about my past (after a lengthy period of time) and on the contrary, they were impressed with how far I've come, I also became very good friends with them and hang with them on a daily basis, actually burn the 420 with them. It's a touchy topic bro, to do or don't? I lean on the side of don't and if they find out deal with it, it's better to have the job for a temp period of time than not have one at all. Good luck my friend, and there is light out there, I am living proof of it. Peace Mark

Fuck you and the cow you rode in on.  Drug laws are unjust, and blaming someone for problems that they have due to non violent, victimless crimes indicates to me that you are part of the problem.  Asshole.

I personally would advise never to tell.  Nothing good can come from it.  Only REAL possibility is getting terminated on the spot.

DEFINITELY don't tell, even when asked.

The laws are all fucked up, yes.  I ended up getting hit with 1-3 in NYS system for my first and only pop - no sale involved.  However, I was CHARGED with A Class felony which carries 25-life in NY.

If I weren't a great dealer making lots of money, I could never have come up with the shoebox full of cash required for my lawyer's $25,000 retainer and $1000/court day fees and the subsequent dropping of the A, B, and C Class felonies for which I was charged.

I call it "Capital Punishment."  If you have capital, you don't get punished...

Yup, yup! Bear in mind also that, just because they ask, doesn't mean they really want to know. Companies get insurance breaks and such for implimenting these policies.

Shit, come to think of it, why waste what little good you might take from all of our experience and observation of the Program. Virgil actually managed to get physicians rights at local hospitals based on his falacious claim that he was a bonafied psychiatrist! Gimme a break, man! You're worried about some old conviction? Nobody's looking, nobody cares. They all need good people to do whatever they're paying for. They can't afford to be too picky about shit that doesn't enter into that equation.

Can't get a job because of a felony. You can't get a job at Target, WalMart, AppleBees, Gravestone's, Toys R Us, and all these other corporate lowlife stores. And its not like these stores pay any more than the mom-and-pop stores who don't have the 10 dollars to check your record. They're just corporated and make shit more money and pay you less. No, why you can't get jobs is because my sister works for that big fucking firm who invented Checking and Investigations of potential backgrounds. You can't fucking walk without these kinds of companies knowing your ever step!!! Not kidding. I disagree that these hired firms don't want to know!

For example, my sister works for a company called CHOICES. this company is a hire-out company that gets their money from places like Bennagins' who would hire them nationwide to look into the references and information provided by you on your application. If you said you did not have a criminal record, if you did not disclose your appropriate social security number ...it is going to come up. And you are NOT going to get a job

I wonder if it is possible to get a NEW social security number that does not disclose such information about any criminal record ???
