Couldn't tell ya cause I wouldnt know it if I heard it. There is a ton of music I have heard over the years that I liked but either forgot who it was, or never found out the artist...again cause I was primarily a metal head....

Just listened to it again....three songs stand out, although I like most of them:

Chameleons - Swamp Thing

PIL - Home

PIL - Rise"

Can you believe these songs are almost 20 yrs old? I LOVE post-punk!

Swamp Thing is a pretty popular song from them.I heard it playing at an alternative club in Florida.I fell in love and have been following them ever since that lovely evening.

P.i.L and the Pixies get some radio play in the states unlike unlike The Chameleons and Invincible.BTW Mark Burgess is the vocals for both bands."

I mentioned those 4 bands to my brother....what did I get? "Where have you been?"

What bands fall into the post punk category?
I found this to be pretty accurate in describing it:

Quote
Classic examples of post-punk outfits include Gang of Four, Joy Division/New Order, and Wire. Bands such as Crass and The Fall also came within the scope of post-punk, as with several outfits formed in the wake of traditionally punk rock groups: Magazine from Buzzcocks for instance. A list of predecessors to the post-punk genre of music might include Television, whose album Marquee Moon, although released in 1977 (when the punk genre was just forming), is considered definitively post-punk in style. Other groups, such as The Clash, remained predominantly punk in nature yet inspired and were inspired by elements in the post-punk movement.

And then there's "emo"

Pink Floyd--Ummagumma
Umma Gumma & Atom Heart Mother were the first albums that I ever heard by the 'early Floyd' thanks to my gf at the time having these two LPs. Not too long after that I found a copy of The Piper at the Gates of Dawn at a record store, which I also liked a lot.

Big Black--Songs About Fucking
Well shit, what can I say? Big Black were the kings of abrasive, angst-driven, industrial-esque rock 'n' roll...

Aerosmith--Rocks

An old favorite...

A damn fine record!  Have you checked out Monster Movie?  It has a different singer.  Future Days is probably my all-time favorite record by that particular bunch of Krauts.

Again, I commend you on your exquisite musical taste.  Truly one of the better bands the world has ever heard, and that is arguably their best release.

Kinks--"Till the End of the Day"

The Runaways--"Cherry Bomb"

The Who--"Much Too Much"

Kate Bush--"Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)"

Blue Oyster Cult--"Transmaniacon MC"

Roky Erickson--"Gremlins Have Pictures" (great comp, includes the song "Anthem (I Promise)" which contains the immortal lyrics, "Gremlins have pictures/Of the anniversary of Christ".  Also the great "I Am" with it's lines "I am/In Satan's all-perfect love" and "From the gartgoyles/To the Stonehenge/From the Sphinx/To the Pyramids/Lucifer's temples praise be the Devil's rites/'Til the Devil's clock/Strikes midnight".  Roky is a fucking poet, a true star.)
