How lomg and what good?

Ok,

Someone tell me HOW long this site has been in existance, AND measurable accomplishments that it has provoked!  (Please don't list "survivors being able to tell their story", as one). Looking for HOW many programs have CLOSED, etc.

  Anyone know?  Willing to LIST?

You're asking what good the site has done.  Are you implying that the only measure of that is a direct link to programs closing?

Sorry, nobody knows. It's impossible to say. Just compare the number of page views for any topic to the number of posts and you'll quickly realize that we never even hear from most of the people who read this stuff. So how in the world could we know what kind of effect it has?

I just take it for granted that advertising works. Each and every time the Ad Council advises so many millions of viewers to panic if they suspect their kid might have smoked a joint that some number of suckers fall for it. I try to counter that as best I can w/o missing out on living my own life and enjoying my own kids.

If you think it's not worth the effort or you require proof before you invest any effort, then go your way and be well w/ all my best wishes.

Wicked men obey from fear, good men from love.

Oh, I forgot to add this. I initially set up the AnonAnon site in around `98. From there, a reader requested a forum, so I set up Side Talk. Then another reader set up one for Straight on a free forums server, then another on Kids, etc., etc.

So now, when you google Sembler or Straight, Inc. or Miller Newton or any of a long list of other keywords, you get a pretty good representation of the other side of the story. Journalists and layers have used these resources to locate interviews and wittnesses. And it's not uncommon at all to hear from a parent or two who found the other side of the story here while researching a program for their own kid. I expect the other website hosts have the same experience.

Virgil has been busted out to several employers for his shady past by ppl who came together right in these forums. I can't take credit for that, of course. I never even bothered to show up. But I think it was helpful to host these sites so that people who want to look into this weird little history of ours can find each other, compare notes and do with it whatever they will.

Now, all that said, I'm one of those radical, intemperate, provocative people who makes comparisons between the drug warriors and the Nazis. I think it's valid. I also think I'd rather never see any defining moment or retribution than to see things end the way they did for the Nazis. Misguided and cruel as they may be, what happens to them happens to the country that I love. I'm happy w/ gradual change through reason. The alternatives are just unthinkable at this point.

of the dark. The real tragedy of life is
when men are afraid of the light.

Hitler had the right idea about harnessing the youth. Give us all the youth on blue chairs in the new faith-based Straight, Inc.-by-the-Sea (formerly Straight, Inc. v2.0). and we'll make the world right!!!

Right you are, my dear.  Why don't these druggies ever think about the positive aspects of Fascism?  I think that Straight, Inc.-by-the-Sea will prove to be a model community--one that can be used as a prototype for the society of tomarrow.  See you in the Brave New World, druggies!  Love ya!

It doesn't matter how many of our beloved programs you shut down.  We've got the new faith-based Straight, Inc.-by-the-Sea (formerly Straight, Inc. v2.0) right here in our own neighborhood.  We'll see ALL OF YOU back in those blue chairs where you belong.  You'll be here and you'll LIKE it!!

Where's your gratitude? :flame:

Juvenile comments like this is why nobody outside of any survivors take this site seriously. Its one thing to do a little trolling and have some fune, but this is down right childish.

There actually are some very informative, very insightful, factual testimonies, and supportive people here. You just have to weed them out with a fine tooth comb. Basically, if you want some answers, you'll find them, but you have to look for them. If you want sheer and utter emotional instability and immaturity at 30 something and older, you'll find that more readily. The thing is, they really do go hand in hand. If you're considering putting your kid in a program, come visit some of the alumni sites to get a taste of how well these places work!
