I post anonymously and use whatever means necessary to protect my personal information on this particular site and forum.  I do this because through the years as I've come to this forum I see no structure.  I see slander and smakktalking en mass, I read full on lies and exxagerations that can't help but make there way into the posts and minds of those who were done wrong.  One would think it would be the opposite of this on a site for survivors ... but lo and holden, 'tisn't.

Trolls come along here and they do more good to break shit up and get people out of their seats than do alot of the beckonings and reconnoitering methods of some of the so called Advocates and Survivors who show up here.

And who do you suggest should monitor these forums? And how should they go about breaking up fights? By what criteria should they determine what's worthy and what's not; what you should be allowed to read and what you shouldn't? Or should we do it democratically? Should everyone vote? Who gets to vote? How do we certify the results?

Do YOU want to spend your life in the middle of every ugly brawl on the whole forum? Or should I just ban all the angry, hurt people? Who would be left? People I agree with, I guess, and that group would probably not run up much of a tab at Starbucks if I believed in censorship.

Sorry, this is the real world. You're going to have to learn to deal w/ the existance of offensive and mean spirited words in it.

If I tell you to fuck off and then I tell everyone else to do the same on this forum, well that is just wrong!!!

It's wrong because we're survivors and advocates, people who have been kicked and beaten on when we couldn't do anything about it.  Gin and Greg have the old technology enough to track those, like me, who dont' know better than to not buy stealth software for ten bucks.  

So to say that you're not being identified and monitored on this forum is a true fantasy.  In fact, since we're talking about 'Getting Real', Gin has been made aware of several of my less than tasteful posts, as well as anyone else who I played with and thought I knew but I don't.  I do this on several sites where there is no inherent 'structure'.  

It's kinda like crime, or: not crime.  I mean, if you're not caught busting someone's head open, is it really a crime?  If you're not gonna get in any lasting trouble other than pissing off others for your compositions, is it really mean or is it crime?  

Hey, Gin's saying the site isn't monitored.  I like that and I second it.  This means that even the survivors who come here can tell you anything they want and under any pretense, like they are wont to do; and they won't receive any lasting trouble from it and might not even get edited by the sometimes monitors if the monitors believe in or know the survivor who is posting.

This is especially since you are not the monitor. I guess if you want to make a forum where there are any regulations; I'll stop by and you can edit my shit there, too, just because I'm a troll - and a survivor/advocate.

How about: No Cursing, for starting the monitoring process.  Why I would choose this is because if you are sincerely trying to help others in the healing process, you would not subject people to these kinds of words.  My belief and opinion.  



I mean if we can just start somewhere here, we might get somewhere.  Otherwise, its just a fucking, bullshitty, pussy fucking, dicklicking, patriotette, bloody, cock n balls, prick, shit, cunt, fuck, motherfuckering, asshole, goddamned, and any other cursing words I can't think of now of a good time!!!

well I'm confused by the turn on this thread now. i didn't think anyone said the word censorship? oh well, i've stood on my sopbox on the matter of censorship before...

i got nothing but love and dread and confusion for y'all in as much as we all been through the same thing.

and sometimes i thank the biggest assholes in my life, after the fact and not to their face, because they force me to draw a line in the sand.

and i got nothing but respect and appreciation for the hosting and moderating i have seen on these forums.

it is a handicap to communicate blind with type like this.

Sorry Pietra. Maybe I took the initial post the wrong way. I thought they were asking me to do something about all the trolling and hostility. Basically, I can't do that. In practical terms, I don't have the time to pour over every conversation and determine which is OK and which isn't. And who am I to judge anyway?

I don't know how many times I have to restate the obvious, but this is not a psychiatrist's office. It's just a website. If you need psychiatric help, seek it. I am not a shrink. I'm not qualified to help anybody w/ their healing process and wouldn't dream of pretending to be.

The only thing I'm helping anybody to do is to speak out and/or learn about the troubled parent industry. If you want to join in, please feel free to start anytime.

I support bannings. It's not censorship, it's structure, and this board has very little.

If people were banned for their inappropriate, and cruel actions they'd either A) Re register under a new user name. B) Start posting anon, in which case you could ban their IP, temporarily or, C) Perhaps think about their behavior and shape up and be respectful in the future.

Moderators should actually moderate on a daily basis, and have a full time presence on the board. Just because this is a free speech message board does not mean that it?s okay for people to be harassed and abused.

That?s the way we were treated in Straight, why the hell should it be okay now?

Ban everyone? No. Create an environment where people feel safer and respected? Yes.

BTW, do you believe now that that Montel show will actually air? I'm pretty convinced that it will. And do you think it'll be somewhat helpful? I'm still waiting on that one, but very hopeful.

You're asking me about the montel show. Most of the important stuff will be edited. Names like Sembler and others will be edited out for avoidance of suits probably. made a stink about it simply because everyone was being so hush hush about the stupid little thing. even had to give Wes a bogus email just to get the name.

But as far as editing posts there are still pretendings.  wrote a huge post about a conversation we'd had regarding how you told me you couldn't trust someone like Richard Bradbury. You deleted the whole thing.  You told me you had a note, a fact I put in the same post you edited, from Englander to change that little site that was out there, and you deleted that too.  

not sure what your essay questions really mean. You seem to edit what does not please you, and then act as if you're not monitoring or that by doing so it would somehow be parental.  Please explain?

Actually, the question is - do you monitor at all, or not?  You emailed my about a post that was not mine and asked if it could be edited for Luke Riffle's potential investors. not sure but - you sound more confused than you allude to or w/e.

I agree with C. Survivor about monitoring, which is already being done as long as it suits the monitors.  GregFL will get a phone call if his name is being used. Or someone who cared enuff to give their phone# will be notified, or sammie or riffle or whomever if the post is bad enuff.  There are no rules except the ones that make the oldcomers who show here look good to some degree either way probably.  what a silly joke.
