her. but thanks. aargh. we never talk about the heavy stuff anymore. I don't know, a few years ago it all still hurt. Right now I am very distracted in my life with other things, so I don't think about it much. Sometimes it is hard to sort out the effects of Straight from the effects of growing up in domestic violence. But it is not hard to see how incredibly damaging that experience was at the time. I was really weird and changed afterwards. Very mentally different. Teachers noticed. VERY pale. Doctors noticed.

I can't get away to do the show (ShaneUNC notices this and gleefully rubs his hands together. You'll see.)[ This Message was edited by: Pietra on 2004-12-12 03:09 ]

I hope that whoever does the show prepares for it well, not letting themselves get too caught up in the excitement of being on television. I hope they focus on nothing more than telling it like it is...well, was and still is..

Yeah, I notice it in little mannerisms and stuff, but we can never negate what we were subjected to, or it becomes, "Okay."

Frank, If I'm chosen to go, I'll do my very best. Thank God it's an interview, and not just me standing up, telling a story. In the end, it's one more person coming out, and stating how wrong it all was/is...

I don't know, I was daydreaming a little, and I wondered if that show was going to try to pull a little emotional trick, like "well, Sally, do you remember your very first oldcomer?" and then bring them out of the wings, or even worse, like, well just imagine what would be something worse. I'm not trying to scare anyone off, but maybe you should get it in writing that they are not going to try any tricks like that, because for god's sake, that is the last thing anyone needs, is to have the emotional rug pulled out from under them. I really hope that show handles the subject with sensitivity. I really hope people have some emotional support standing by. If anyone is not totally comfortable doing the show, don't do it, and don't feel like you are letting anyone down. There are other ways to educate people, and to get the story out, other than making yourself vulnerable on television like that.[ This Message was edited by: Pietra on 2004-12-12 03:05 ]

Come to think of it, I hope the producers understand that if they were to pull someone like Virgil or Mrs. Pete out of the green room, their other guests might not be held liable for their reactions.

Just kidding. But seriously, as daytime talk goes, this is not Jerry Springer. I think it'll really be OK on that count.

For those who do go, here's my only request. Pretty much the same as Frank said. The way I see it, the daytime talk audience has been getting regular doses of the other side of the story for years. Sally Jesse Raphael has hawked boot camps. I'm pretty sure she had Charles Long III as a guest star. Now Dr. Phil is hawking Provo Canyon and other members of the troubled parent industry. I think it's time this audience got clued in on the other side of the story.

But that's just a request, not a demand. I'll be watching and cheering for all I'm worth for whoever does go. And, as always, take care of yourself! That's good advice from Pietra. This is a good (not great, but good) opportunity to get the story out. But nothing is worth opening yourself up to another dose of the same ol'e.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU GIVE TO WESLEY FAGER.

THE INFORMATION YOU GIVE MAY BE USED AGAINST YOU IN WAYS THAT YOU CAN'T KNOW AND WAYS THAT HE WILL NOT DIVULGE TO YOU.

FOR EXAMPLE, THE INFORMATION THAT SEVERAL SURVIVORS WERE GOING TO GIVE AT THE MORGAN, COLLIN, AND GILBERT WAS FORTUNATELY HELD BACK WHEN IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT MCG NEVER HAD ANY INTENTION OF TAKING THE CASE. THE INFORMATION THAT IS USED TO SUPPOSEDLY HELP SURVIVORS ON THIS SITE CAN BE USED AGAINST YOU IN A COURT OF LAW. YOU ARE DEALING WITH MELVIN SEMBLER, A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR PEDOPHILE.

WATCH WHAT INFORMATION YOU GIVE ON THIS WEBSITE!!!

IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE INFORMATION ON BEING CAREFUL ABOUT GIVING OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION AND WHAT HARM COULD COME TO YOU WHEN DOING IT ON A SITE LIKE THIS, PLEASE CONTACT

Shut your scared little pie hole and wake up to what is going on around you.  If you were in Straight you should know that we don't scare easily.  You could have a person from a correctional facility ask us to accept charges all day long, but we'll just call you back collect. We expect as much from you and we like the fun. Keep it coming, and do think of better schemes.

Stop being a pussy.  I know Wes is dear to you, an apology is owed to the more than fifteen people who wanted to give their testimonies for MCG when we were told that they had gotten around the statutes and they case would be taken.

It's all well and good that you might be doing advocate things for children.  But do it in way that is not fucking cheap and deceptive.  Who gives a fucking shit if the whole government knows that Survivors are on some show you say exists.  No, you don't get it. Give the information first before you expect any, Wes.

Here; I will give you my information.  I was an abused child patient in Straight Incorporated. Now, you give me more information and I will tell you the rest.  Oh, wait....you already gangked several testimonies from several people and nothing happened with it.  So, now that you have some information - give it up.

No apology necessary for the MCG meeting.  I worked for personal injury attorneys for years.  That is how it's done.  They meet with the potential client(s), see if they have a case that would make them some money (I know, I know, but it's a fact of life) and if they can't make the case or justify their expenses then they turn it down.  What is so sinister about that???  That is exactly what happened.  I was AT the meeting.  WERE YOU??????????  I didn't really expect anything to come of it because MCG is an ambulance chasing firm but I wanted to see for myself.  There was no ulterior motive here.  It was a go and see kind of thing.  It didn't work out but no one was harmed.

GET THE FUCK OVER THIS AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE SWEETHEART!!!!!!

One more point.  People have been trying to get this "story" out for years.  In case you've been living under a rock you will have noticed that this type of "treatment" has been widely accepted for over 20 years now.  It's going to be difficult to break that dynamic.  The program's line of "they're all disgruntled druggies" in response to critics has WORKED.  It's hard for those who have not been through what we have to believe that shit like this actually goes on.  It's much easier for their little lives to believe that it simply does not happen because then they would actually have to ADDRESS THE ISSUE.  IT AIN'T EASY.  It's going to take a long time of trial and error.  If you're expecting results just bacause someone says they're going to try then you're going to be disappointed for a long time so just get over it now.  If you don't have the patience to wait for the tide to turn then GO AWAY and let the rest of us handle it for you.

How uptite can you get?  Not much more than that.

I mean, what a pussy comment.  When I have your children in my new Straight Incorporated, I will give them extra special attention and make sure they know their place.  This post reminds of that fucking idiot who wrote the Serenity Prayer whose life was all about servitude to something and ideals that don't really exist in this world:

The Serenity Prayer
(full text)

GOD, grant me the serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change,

Courage to change the
things I can, and the
wisdom to know the difference.

Living ONE DAY AT A TIME;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the
pathway to peace.

Taking, as He did, this
sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.

Trusting that He will make
all things right if I
surrender to His Will;

That I may be reasonably happy
in this life, and supremely
happy with Him forever in
the next. Amen

Reinhold Neibuhr-1926

God what a waste!
