Cannabis can precipitate the first episode of psychosis
If someone has a predisposition to a psychotic illness, such as schizophrenia, use of drugs such as cannabis may trigger the first episode in what can be a lifelong, disabling condition. There is increasing evidence that regular cannabis use precedes and causes higher rates of psychotic illness. Psychotic illnesses are characterised by:
Delusions - for example the person believes they have special powers.
Hallucinations - for example the person hears voices or sees things that aren't really there.
Thought disorder - for example the person has difficulty organising their thoughts.
When people experience psychotic symptoms, they are unable to distinguish what is real. They lose contact with reality.

Yeah right.  I've been smoking grass for many years.  I own 2 businesses that are very very successful.  In fact, I'll be one of the "lucky" that will be getting the majority of the tax breaks from our "wonderful" president.  I fall into the category of those making $200k or more per year.  And I think I'll celebrate that by smoking a nice juicy bowl.   Bet that crap was written by the dfaf crowd.

Sorry but this does happen to a minority of people. I think though, that since schizophrenia is usually genetic, that it's the same way with this. You probably need to be a latent schizophrenic for it to make you become psychotic. I have a friend who had a psychotic break due to acid, but it came back later when she wasn't on it. Meaning, it may not have been the acid.

Key words in here being "CAN" (meaning it's possible, not definate), "IF" (again...not definate), "MAY" (can you guess what I'm going to say???  Not definate).  Point being-the poster has obtained information that is a possibility...maybe just to say "Be careful"...I personally don't see any problem w/that. That goes to say for anything, anyone could develop an allergy to peanuts and die the next time they eat them.  Does that mean that I am going to slam someone for telling me that?  No.  My Mom called me the other day saying that she saw something on the news saying that you are not supposed to defrost meat in warm water in plastic because heated plastic releases a chemical when heated that can cause cancer...I said thanks for the info, again just be careful.  The only thing that probably was not necessary was "that explains alot of you on here"...probably uncalled for.

You seem to be overlooking the major point here.  Schizophrenia is not caused by smoking pot.  It may increase symptoms but so does alcohol.  Should we go back to prohibition???  We see how well THAT worked out.   :rofl:  We don't fall for the scare tactics here.
