I want to make a difference, but I don't know where to start. People tell me I can't do anything cuz I'm only sixteen, but since when does age matter? Does anyone else feel the same way? :???: [ This Message was edited by: Devichic5 on 2004-11-01 10:20 ]

Well yeah, sort of, and I'm damned near 40 LOL!

I don't think there's any one thing anyone can do to make a difference you can see right away. But a lot of nice things have happened over time as a direct or indirect result of these websites being here.

Probably the most important thing you can do to improve any situation is to simply educate yourself. If recruiters from these kinds of places show up at your school, you'll know them for what they are and do what you can to hold them to their proofs. If you have a friend who's about to get sent off, or has been sent off, you can help their family understand what kind of monsters they're dealing with. In a couple of years, you'll see them at work trying to protect you from yourself through urinalysis. A few more years and you'll encounter them stalking your kids at school. If you're into community involvement, you'll see `em coming when they offer to help your community.

Eventually, you'll be in charge after us old farts have died off or gone senile. Just learn from our mistakes and try and improve on our work.

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use
