But it's not child abuse when a Program does it
« on: July 10, 2004, 06:05:00 PM »
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/South/07/09/ ... index.html

Here is what is happening as a result of a couple of individual parents treating kids with various disabilities like the Programs routinely appear to treat kids.

The programs assure us that this, that or the other isn't "abuse."

This article is a pretty fair example of how society in general categorizes that kind of activity.

In particular, I was struck by the account of the little girl who had to sit with her nose to the wall from the time she got home from school till 10:30 at night.

I thought about the Programs and OP and couldn't help thinking, "At least the poor child got to go to school that day!"

But the Program parents tell us over and over again that what they do to kids is "not abuse."

Just wanted to bounce this and make sure anyone who might want to write CNN and express their wish that this issue (abuse and neglect in programs)be covered gets a chance to do so.

And even the ones who think they are trying to do something good really don't know what they're doing. Why is it that you never see a unified effort in the U.S. to find the right way to handle problem children and publish this process for all to see (like they do with medical problems)? They just let these fucking wankers go off with their own theories. Pretty sad.
