This is Retarded

Look, I was in LIFE and then went to Tampa for the spinoff STEP program. I am not saying that all was well. As a matter of fact, it SUCKED !!! There are some people who did benefit from this, I even think I learned a few things. I was beat up, restrained, on first phase longer than than it took me to complete college, but the re-union is just some friends, we all made a few, getting together. It is not put on by Helen Peterman nor any other executive staff member. It is put on by a former client who made alot of friends. Now I am not going to the old building on the tour, seems kind of sick to me, but I am going to the beach to see old friends. See it for what it is. I still have nightmares to this day, 15 yrs later. I wake up in sweats and the whole nine yards, but it isn't like I was innocent at the time either. I do feel allot of wrong was done, but some good came out of it anyway. Now, drop your childish sissie whining, and if you want to go meet some old friends, then go. If you did not have any friends there, then get a life (oops, sorry about that) and move on with yourself.

Good Luck

What makes you think people haven't moved on?  A great many have.  Just because one forms an opinion on the experience doesn't mean they necessarily are totalled by the experience.

What suggestions do you have for the people who cannot move on because the abuses were real and traumatic?

Would you say the same thing to a war Vet with PTSD just because a vet you know wasn't affected?

And what do you have to say to the people who were "innocent"?  I'm talking about the kids who didn't deserve to be there in the first place (not that even the most hardcore "druggies" deserved the shit that was doled out)?

This is not retarded.  What is retarded is pretending that this type of abuse is okay to continue.

Oops... forgot to quote - you know who I'm talking to.

Actually, I did not post entirely correct. I was trying to reply to the people talking about protesting the reunion. I did not realize my mistake until after the fact. Did not mean to start a whole new post. And I do realize that people did suffer, but lets not compare anybody who went thru LIFE to someone who went to vietnam. Not even close. I also suffer alittle still, hence the nightmares. Like I said, I was trying to reply to the reunion protesters. Also, I am the farthest thing from brainwashed, and do feel for some of these cases, but I also feel it is important to move on with your life if possible, and that is me.

I'm right w/ ya' as regards moving on on a personal level. I don't care what happened 20 years ago. It's ancient history. What I care about is that these same lunatics are spending billions of our tax dollars annually to force all of us (including people in other countries) to accept their warped dogma on certain, few, unpatentable drugs not marketed by Eli Lilly.

If somebody wants to draw a little media and/or neighbor attention to just how loony these bastards are, more power to them. Maybe, one day in our lifetime, we'll see the day when a crack-pot like Batty Sembler (Helen's bud) would be laughed out of the room instead of given the task of writing public policy w/ a blank check to back it.

This year will go down in history! For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!

The Veteran sentence wasn't just about Viet Nam Vets... it was about ALL Vets... and it wasn't a comparison, it was an analogy.

So you were talking to the protesters.... do you not think they share a similar view, and maybe they're interested in getting the word out to end this madness?  Don't you wish someone would have stopped it before your nightmares started?

Is what I do not understand, is who are you going to protest to. Nobody but a bunch of former lifers will be there. People who go about with a normal life now, and have no association with anything. Look at lifereunion.com and go to the members area. You can see that people have jobs with no relation to any of this. I have not heard that Petermann will be there at all. I guess if you want to come and protest, go ahead. I will be the one looking and shaking my head, you are wasting your life preaching to the chior. Even worse than that, you will be preaching to a bunch of people who have moved on and don't give a shit about your hang-ups. Good Luck. See ya at the reunion.

I am the original poster, and I forgot to add something here. If you are going to protest the LIFE program, then I am going to protest the Roman Empire. Seems logical to me, since neither one exist anymore. I am sorry if the tone seems harsh, but I am going on a picnic to the reunion with my wife and kids, and the last thing I need is some A-Hole running around starting shit because they are to dumb to let it go. Listen real good, LIFE DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE. I h ope that is simple enough. Thanks.

Oh I hear you loud and clear.  I certainly hope others are reading this too.

First of all,  your logic is flawed - LIFE has sprouted new programs with different names, and the Roman Empire sprouted civilizations that we know today.  So read your history, and protest away.  If you don't learn from it, you're doomed to repeat it.

And while you're at it - read the Constitution again... you know, the part about the right to peaceful assembly?

I understand this picnic is going to take place near a playground - more power to the people that show up and tell parents of kids playing nearby about LIFE and the "therapeutic communities" that just can't wait to get their hands on these kids the first time the little cherubs talk back.

I often hear about the struggles other parents are going through and wish we still had a program to direct people to. Anyone ever think about starting one?

Perhaps the sentiments contained in the following
pages, are not yet sufficiently fashionable to procure them
general favor; a long habit of not thinking a thing wrong,
gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises
at first a formidable outcry in defence of custom.  But the
tumult soon subsides.  Time makes more converts than reason.

You really need to read your constitution. Here is the passage "or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances". In case you did not notice, we are not the government, as a matter of fact, we are a group of friends getting together for a picnic. And the defunct, no-existent establishment, LIFE, that you are protesting is not a government either. Spend more of your time learning, rather that complaining, and you will be happier and wiser.
