I ran away. But only because they finally gave me the opportunity. It was partly because I caused so much trouble (violence was really the only way out). But, I later found out that the cost was to be split between my dad and my mom & stepfather. My dad failed to pay his half of the expenses, so that probably had some bearing on things.
I fought like hell for a while, then conformed. After I was on second phase for a time, they started sending me home alone at night. I kept asking for foster brothers, but they wouldn't do it. I think they just wanted me to run so they could have an excuse to send me to Mississippi. Bethel was a lot cheaper back then.
After leaving, I moved in with my dad and started working. Then, my mom lured me in by pretending to take me out for an innocent lunch. We stopped by her house on the way back and the door slammed shut behind us. A couple of goons popped out of the back room, a van pulled up to the door, and they dragged me away, kicking and screaming.
The cops actually helped plan the kidnapping. A program parent drove the van.
You know, Greg sounds a little bit psycho, but a lot of the things he says make sense. My step father was in the construction business in Sarasota for many years, and his mother worked for the Sarasota County Schools for a log time -- his sister still does. Some one from the Sherrif's Department helped plan my kidnapping, and I know of a least one person from the program who's father was a contractor. And yes, the building contractors pretty much run the Sarasota County Government. As far as starting a war with them, I guess the worst thing that could happen is getting black footprints on my head. But, I don't think I want to do it unless they try to start another program. Like I said, it's not about revenge -- LIFE is long gone.
