I am so tired of hearing people comparing Elan to the Holocaust. I find it so sick and very disrespectful. I am sure all of you very angry indivuals were just angels before Elan. I am sure it was all undeserved. Look you can hate the place and the people but really it is out of control. While I was there I saw nobody burned alive, starved, beaten, raped, and so on. Obviously things were run in a way that people felt like shit at times. People were embarassed and angry but it happens. I deserved anything that was dished out. If any laws were broken then charges should have been filed. This site is full of hate and I find that very sad. I wish the best to most of you and I hope the others get a grip and realize things could always have been worse.

I'll be the first to tell you that i was no angel before or even after Elan but, I will also be the first to tell you that i did not deserve everything that was dished out.

Also, yeah things could have been a hell of a lot worse but, Cause there not does that give Elan the right to do what they do.

I agree that Elan is no holocaust it's not even an Artman111 story but the truth is that the same uncaring, brainwashing, Mind twisting abuse still goes on there. They just hide it under a nice pretty fluffy blanket called lying.

I agree with you that comparing Elan with the Holocaust is pure non-sense. The victims of the Holocaust were brutally murdered, raped, tortured and completely secluded from society based on their ethnic backgrounds. They did nothing to deserve that and the cruelty behind it is far far far out of proportion from anything that anyone has possibly experienced in Elan.

However, abuse is still abuse, cruelty is still cruelty, let's not forget that. It is way out of line to make any references to the Holocaust when the subject is Elan. Of course Peter Rowe wouldn't be nearly as cruel as Hitler even if he tried, but the fact that there are people as cruel as Hitler won't make Pete any less cruel than he actually was. The fact is: Most of us were treated horribly by some staff members of Elan, we were mentally and psychologically abused, they've attempted to brainwash us, i mean, the list goes on and on. Art must have experienced more of the physical abuse, but it still doesn't make it OK.

Mandy, I'm quite objective to the fact that I needed help and Elan has given it to me. I will never deny that and I'm very thankful for it. But at the same time they were helping me, they were damaging me as well. Dude, it still hurts to remember the way that they treated us and it's left many scars. I don't think it'll ever heel completely.

Well, I guess it's OK for people to be angry, but the pure insanity, cruelty and hate posts need to stop. You're absolutely right about that.

hmm,, i dont recall seeing a post that compared elan to the holucoust,,but the methods  that were used to break people comes from there,, joe and dr d learned they're lessons well,, im not saying they shoved glass up your ass   or put your friends in the oven,, but there  was / i s many other much more subtle ways of manipulating a captive audiance,,once again,, if you dont understand,, be  glad

Believe me, I think Elan sucked, but I do not think it was anything even remotely able to be compared to the Holocaust, and anyone who thinks so is an idiot. But I remember that someone once said that one person's suffering does not negate another person's suffering. So even though Elan was not like the Holocaust, bad things still happened there. When people compare Elan to such an extreme situation, it gives people a chance to negate the abuse that went on there. So, please stop comparing Elan to the Holocaust, because it takes away the credibility of those who want to speak out against it and makes you look ignorant.
