Oregon one of the more saner states ,in dealing with the use and possession of cannibis .

The state has a medical MJ program . At the time of its implementation, (1999),it cost 150 dollars to registar with the Dept of Human  Resources,Health Division. You had to have a Dr.'s note stating that marijuana Might relieve the syptoms of what ever disease you were suffering from . Also provided that was one of the illnesses that the health dept accepted under the program.

For example Irritible bowel syndrome ,a disease that affects over 30 million people in this country (generally caused by stress)was accepted .

You were issued a wallet sized card ,and also given a certificate suitable for framing  from the Oregon Health division.

The cost to registar has come down .I do not know how much . You were allowed to grow 7 plants .Plus there were other rules ,like you could only take 1 once of medicine off a plant at a time .

When this program became law ,in 1999, due to a referendum(you vote on everthing in Oregon) It was a great day for orgonians because it put the people's medicine back in the hands of the people .

The way the Medical MJ program is set up in Oregon ,should be used as a model for all of the other states to follow .

Federally it is still against the law .

Yet is our Government gonna lock up people that are too sick to grow it themselves?, (oregon law allows that if you are too sick to grow your own medicine you may appoint someone to do it for you ) or their caregivers . This has not happened that I know of in 5 years . And there is safety in numbers .The price  (of registering with the state )has come down because so many people have registered .

Maine is also one of the best states in regards to MJ law. It's pretty much decriminalized

There are 8 states that have medical mj laws now .

If it were legal the price would come way down . It seems that the feds make more money keeping it illeagal .

Fines generate revenue , building prisons to house people convicted of pot crimes generates revenue ,creates jobs (gotta have people to watch over the convicted ) ,jobs generate revenue . Around and around it goes .

the serpent chases its tail .

keeping cannabis illegal is quite evil .

Alcohol kills 200,000 people a year as well as tobacco,(another 200,000 people ) Yet this is sanctioned by the federal gov and generates revenue.

I don't believe that there is a documented case of a person dying from cannabis use.

I think its more of a question as to when the feds can figure out a way to generate more revenue after it becomes legal ,than the fact that they generate more by keeping it the way it is .

Until then its gonna stay illegal

Around and around the serpent chases its tail.

Well I hope it passes in Nevada . doesn't  Nevada have medical mj already ?

now if it does pass ,it is still ilegal at the federal level .

Which is where lies another situation .Who gets the revenue generated by the legal action of Nevada . It should be Nevada ,yet  the feds will have their hands out for some of that gold . Will it be enough?

I hope it passes and good for the people of Nevada ,another sane state .
